I don’t know about you but my mouth is watering to taste anything and everything on this course menu.

Eating tapas at The Mediterranean Restaurant is a quintessential Boulder dining experience. Or it was — The Med closed in June 2020. But its tapas menu will be dearly missed: polenta con miele (crispy polenta, Prosciutto di Parma, blue cheese and chamomile honey), the bacon-wrapped Medjool dates and the aceitunas al horno (steamed Manila clams with chorizo, garlic and stewed bell peppers and onions.) Cold plates included cheese and charcuterie plates, or the hummus, burrata or tuna tartare (served with oranges, jalapenos, olives, toasted olives and a lime soy vinaigrette).

I know I’ve already mentioned it and linked to my former statements, but I can’t have a restaurant guide about Boulder that doesn’t properly outline why this place is amazing. The Kitchen is actually a family of restaurants across Colorado (and now Chicago too) but the original location is along Pearl Street in Boulder. The Kitchen restaurants are built by a community of craftsman, serving food & drink from local farmers, ranchers and purveyors for the sustainable enjoyment of the whole community.

On the eastern edge of Lake Park overlooking Lake Michigan, Lake Park Bistro — the grand dame of Milwaukee’s dining scene — evokes a bit of Paris. Naturally, the wine list skews French and the menu — whether for lunch, dinner or weekend brunch (a prix-fixe menu makes the decisions easy) — features dishes you’d find in France. For example, starters like mussels and frites, beef tartare and pâté set the scene for heartier entrees such as Strauss veal chop, Dover sole and roasted duck breast.

With its stone and brick walls, wooden tables, and rustic elegance, this inviting spot creates a warm atmosphere in which to enjoy creative cuisine. Yeah, heard good things about the Kitchen, and also a fairly newer place that Below Zero also mentioned in a post a while back, something like Aji?. Across from Fresca I think, east Pearl.

The "hip" places on the West end of Pearl are The Kitchen (restaurant, but upstairs wine bar). It may be a little too snobby for some, including me.
