⚠️If you’re going to Boston.. you can SKIP Mooncusser! Just disappointing tbh and if you know me, you know I loveeee a tasting menu/chefs counter/omakase experience and this was the worst one I’ve had The food: - small plates for a 4 meal menu, we were hungry for real food when we left - everything had a similar taste, I think they call it mooncurry - overpriced for the quantity and quality of fo...

Mooncusser Boston Haven't been back to Mooncusser for a couple of years. We really love their seasonal menu that changes about every 6 weeks. It's a prix-fixe menu so we can all sit back and wait for each surprises. Best way to order is for each couple to order a different dish for each course and share everything together so you are trying the whole menu! We will definitely go back again soon...

Reviews Summary

Mooncusser is lauded for its innovative, globally-inspired tasting menus and exceptional service in an elegant setting. Guests rave about Chef Carl Dooley's creative dishes and the attentive staff, making it a top choice for special occasions. Some diners find the portions small for the price, and a few have noted a prevalence of curry flavors or a desire for more variety in desserts.

"What a treat to dine at Mooncusser! It's a 7 course prix fixe so come hungry. They portions are not small. Beautifully presented and so well executed! It was a long dinner so keep that in mind. Two desserts at the end is a bit extra but you're already indulging! And Moon Bar downstairs so much better than it used to be. Nicely decorated and the cocktail program is so great! My only complaint is the bathroom. They should really make the walk downstairs to the bathroom nicer. It ruins the whole dining experience. This restaurant is definitely pricey but special and worth every penny!"

"Phenomenal dinner! Did the tasting menu with wine pairing. They were so accommodating to a few allergy requests and Chef Carl came by our table with a dish, and he is so lovely. The food was so unique, full of flavors that were surprising and very creative. Introduced us to some new foods that normally we would have never tried. What a fantastic experience and our highlight of our visit to Boston!"

Emily Spooner

"Mooncusser is one of the very best restaurants in Boston. The space has great vibes and a relaxed, comfortable feel. Service is warm and attentive, cocktails are spot-on, and the wine list offers some excellent choices.
But the food - that’s the real star here, and what sets Mooncusser apart from most other restaurants in the city. They truly understand flavor, and their execution is consistently top-notch. The plating can lean on the casual side, which might give the false impression that the food is ordinary - but it is anything but. You’ll encounter new ingredients, bold flavors, and unexpected combinations, and you’ll love them.
The prix-fixe menu allows for flexibility, making it easy to suit a wide range of tastes. Mooncusser is firmly in my top two restaurants in Boston, and it absolutely deserves a place on your list. You can thank me later."

Where to Find the Best Clam Chowder in Boston

OK, technically this is a seafood chowder, stocked as it is with smoked scallops and skate along with clams. But it is clam-dominant, as evidenced by the freshly opened bivalves waving at you from the creamy, chive-flecked base. The team at Mooncusser, which won our 2018 Yankee Editors’ Pick for Boston’s best seafood, are at their best when reimagining classic fare, and the cute little moon-shaped crackers win points for originality.
