Reviews Summary
Bar Gernika is praised for its authentic and delicious Basque cuisine, with many highlighting the flavorful sandwiches and stews. The cozy atmosphere and friendly service contribute to a positive dining experience, though some note the small space can fill up quickly. While most reviews are glowing, one group reported a negative encounter with rude staff, which contrasted with the overall positive feedback about the chef and other servers.
"Awesome. Simply awesome. If you have ever been to a bar/restaurant just down the street of the statehouse in Boston called Sevens …this is the long lost twin. Real good memories and this place just does everything well."

"Unfortunately, we had a very bad experience here today. We had a large group of 11 people which understandably can be a bit overwhelming at times and we try to take that into account when finding a restaurant. We were very excited to try this restaurant as we have heard good things and spend a lot of time at the other basque restaurants.
When we first walked in we were relieved to see that the restaurant was almost empty! It went down hill from there though. We were immediately treated poorly. The server was outwardly rude and obviously annoyed that we were there. We sensed this and tried to offer to help move tables together to try and take some of the burden off and we were met with harsh words. We were honestly taken back, since most of us have worked in The service industry we try to be good customers. It was so bad that we decided to walk out. The cook followed us out and apologized but the outright rudeness from the servers made us feel completely unwelcome. Luckily the restaurant across the street was happy to serve us and we had a wonderful meal."

"My wife and I stopped in for lunch this past weekend. We were in town for vacation. Wow! Were we blown away with how good our food was. We had the chicken grinder and the chicken was moist, tender and had just enough of a kick to make it flavorful. We also had the Monkless beer which was very tasty. Our waitress Renee was very attentive and friendly. We will definitely return next time we are in town!"
