What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Ivy is celebrated for its charming ambiance, especially its beautiful garden patio, and its consistent, gracious service that makes diners feel welcome. While many find the food enjoyable, with standouts like lobster pasta and crab cakes, some reviews suggest that for the price, the dishes can occasionally be average or not consistently meet expectations. The restaurant is a consistent go-to for a predictably great experience, blending atmosphere and cuisine.
"Dining at The Ivy in Beverly Hills was an unforgettable experience. We sat on the patio, which was absolutely gorgeous—surrounded by vibrant flowers, sparkling lights, and a serene, romantic atmosphere that felt like a secret garden in the heart of the city. The eclectic decor added so much charm, especially the hand-painted flower vases and colorful flatware that made every table feel special.
The menu was fabulous and full of tempting options—I genuinely had a hard time deciding what to order because everything sounded so good. I settled on the fish and chips, which were perfectly crispy and flavorful. My son tried their famous lobster pasta, and it definitely lived up to the hype. I’ve also heard rave reviews about the chicken enchiladas, so that’s on my list for next time.
Service was warm, attentive, and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. It’s rare to find a place that nails both ambience and food so well, but The Ivy manages to do just that. We can’t wait to go back."

"Going to The Ivy is always a predictably great experience. The whole vibe, from the always gracious service to the charming ambiance, topped off with excellent cocktails and great food makes this one of my go-to spots. I come here for everything from lunch meetings to special celebrations with friends."

"The food is good, it’s decent value for the portions over the taste, aside from the delicious omelets.
However, I received poor service today from simply ordering water. I asked for tap water, and I got bottled still water which I was charged $11 DOLLARS for. I did not request this at all and asked why the mix up as I got the bill, all I received was a sorry and not the removal of the item from my bill."

You’d easily mistake The Ivy for an English country cottage if it weren’t for the tables of chattering diner, clinking sounds of cutlery and lunchtime martinis. Amongst the mounds of floral cushions and excessive bouquets of roses you’ll spot Hollywood execs wrangling business deals; actors catching up with their agents for lunch; and TikTok fitness influencers who order their Caesar salads without any of the dressing or good bits. This is the kind of laid back glam that West Hollywood restaurants—and the city in general—is known for.

The Ivy’s disarmingly rustic décor and chic Californian twist on American comfort food entice both L.A.’s rich and famous, and their adoring public. The charming white picket fence and fragrant roses of its front patio evoke a by-gone era of simplicity and nostalgia, a glaring, but welcome contradiction amidst the ultra-chic posturing of Beverly Hills. The Ivy’s menu is made similarly appealing by its culinary juxtapositions, creating a balance between hearty comfort and refreshing innovation.

The sprawling complex owned by mega-gallery Hauser & Wirth in the heart of the Downtown L.A. Arts District contains enough within its four walls to keep you occupied all morning (make a beeline for the excellent art bookshop, in particular). But if all that wandering through its grand industrial halls has you feeling hungry, there’s a reason to extend your visit through to lunchtime, too. Namely, in order to stop by Manuela, named after one-half of the Swiss couple behind the art powerhouse.
