What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Umami Japanese Bistro is celebrated for its exceptionally fresh sushi and sashimi, often hailed as the best in Baton Rouge. Diners rave about the Omakase experience and unique dishes like the Hangover Bowl ramen. While the food quality is consistently high, some patrons note that the prices are on the higher side for the area, and service can occasionally be slow. Despite the cost, many find the quality and flavor well worth the splurge.
"Been here a couple of times and this last time was absolutely amazing! Went there to celebrate a birthday and the entire staff was great. The head chef, Jimmy took great care of us and provided a lot of laughs while preparing our sushi and in-between. The sushi here is the best you can get in Baton Rouge in my opinion from the Sashimi Dinner to the Love at First Bite Roll, even the miso is top tier (my favorite in BR ❤️). All the ingredients tasted fresh, the drinks were really good, and just the overall atmosphere was great. Highly recommend Umami."

"Tried a new place to eat and it did not disappoint. Service was excellent and the atmosphere was nice. The menu had many new things I hadn't had and different rolls to choose from. Also had a nice drink selection and a variety of mixed drinks to choose. Will be going back so I can try the other rolls and drinks."

"Absolutely delicious and well planned Omakase. Hands down the best I have had across the states. The order and presentation matched the taste and made each set more exciting. Two of my coworkers tried Omakase here for the first time and couldn’t stop raving about it. I will be stopping by again on my next work trip."
