Reviews Summary

Louisiana Lagniappe is celebrated for its excellent seafood and classic Louisiana dishes, offering a delightful dining experience with attentive service and a pleasant ambiance. While many praise the fresh ingredients and signature offerings like marinated crab claws and fresh fish preparations, some diners find the seasoning overly salty and certain dishes not living up to the price point.

"Where to begin... Excellent service, fine dining, seared tuna steak, drum, soft shell crab, if given enough time and visits one could go down the menu line by line and there's no reason not to. You really can't go wrong.

Oh and half price bottle of wine on Mondays? Sounds like a good old fashion, happy hour to me."

Zong Hu

"Hostesses were uppity acting and very unpleasant with me. I stopped in to pick up gumbo and catfish. However, only catfish was thinly fried catfish, and I don't like it that way. Decided on seafood dressing stuffed bell peppers and gumbo. I've had better gumbo in "New York City". The roux was so dark and thick it was like eating a stew, and there was grit in it from the flour, I assume. The bell peppers barely had any taste to them and were under stuffed for the 34 dollar price tag that was attached to them. They did come with a side salad, bread, and one half of a twice baked baked potato, though. This place is always packed, but I have no idea why."

Barry Esnault

"Underwhelmed… first word that comes to mind. First experience (couple years ago) was good. Tonight was lackluster and so so.
I went early and dined in the bar area. The service was not great, they were brining in furniture rearranging chairs and the bartender was in the back a lot.
My Sensation salad, included with the meal, was lack luster… fresh, but one cherry tomato, one olive, one peperoncino 🤔
I ordered the “Louisianne”- Black Drum fish / lump crab sautéed in lemon butter. The fish itself, a little crispy was good, but the crab was shredded and DRY. I asked for extra lemon butter and was told that it was real butter on the crab. I understand what lemon butter is, but the dish needed more…
It definitely needed something.
“Long run for a short slide!” … especially for the price."

Dining - It is often said there are more restaurants per capita in Baton Rouge than any American city its size. Whether that's urban myth or fact, this much is true: if you're hungry, there is a 225 restaurant that will satisfy any craving.

The Chimes-owned Parrain’s wins top honors for the contentious Cajun category this year; delectable Gulf Coast seafood offerings range from standards like gumbo and crawfish etouffee to unique and palate-pleasing twists like andouille-encrusted fish. Drop in Tuesday for 25-cent oysters, or just chill and treat yourself to some boudin balls and fried alligator at their seriously underrated bar. Louisiana Lagniappe Restaurant lands at close second for the first time in this category with classic dishes prepared with care, and Mike Anderson’s credentials among Acadian cuisine connoisseurs remain intact.
