The restaurant, which is open to the public for lunch and dinner service throughout the week, was originally established in 1941 by Dominic "Doe" and Mamie Signa and is operated by second-generation family members today. High-quality steakhouse entrees include 21-day-aged filets, porterhouses, t-bones, and ribeyes, along with seafood favorites such as butter-poached trout and ahi tuna steak.

While Doe's Eat Place is a regional franchise, the Baton Rouge location incorporates dishes native to Louisiana, such as gumbo, and there’s an entire room decked out in purple and gold, LSU's colors. But they’re also known for their Delta-style tamales and porterhouse steaks the size of your head.

This uber-cosy, no frills family run eatery is the place to be for all things steak, good company and tamales. It’s practically the pillar of Louisiana hospitality and is known for its sit and stay a while atmosphere that makes everyone feel like family. Oh yea, and the steaks are some of the best in the state.

If you order at steak at Doe’s Eat Place, this is what you get: 4lbs of meat. Each sirloin can feed 3 or 4 people – although apparently it’s not uncommon for one person to eat it alone (!). Then again, Doe’s has been rated as one of the best steakhouses in the United States, so who are we to judge?
