Reviews Summary

Leary's Landing Irish Pub is praised for its cozy, authentic Irish pub atmosphere and its hearty, delicious food, particularly the fish and chips and Reubens. While some find the interior a bit dark or confining, the friendly and efficient service, along with a great beer and whiskey selection, makes it a popular spot. It's noted as a reasonable and efficient place for a meal, offering a welcome alternative to seafood.

"I really enjoyed my time here! The atmosphere feels like a true Irish bar — warm, welcoming, and full of character. The beer selection is excellent, with perfectly poured pints, and there’s also a wide choice of other drinks. The food menu is surprisingly large, offering something for everyone.

The service was friendly and attentive, which made the whole experience even better. It’s the kind of place where you can relax, enjoy good company, and feel right at home. Definitely worth a visit if you want the real Irish pub vibe in town. 🍻"

"Stopped here after our Acadia hike because it was one of the few spots in town open for lunch. Casual, pub vibes. Service was good overall. The food was also good: I had the fish and chips, my dining partner had the lobster roll and the kids ordered off the kids’ menu (Mac and cheese and chicken nuggets and fries). I enjoyed the games we could play at our table and the overall atmosphere."

"My Reuben sandwich was amazing. 5 napkins!! One of the top 5 Reubens I have eaten. So good. The corned beef was pulled not sliced. That made a big difference. Their kraut was so tasty and they did not skimp on beef or kraut. I am a big eater but I was stuffed! Service was pleasant, helpful and fast. We sat outside and enjoyed our visit. Highly recommend Leary's!"

One of the latter establishments mentioned above, Leary’s is thankfully open all year—I say thankfully because these dark Maine winters can seem interminable. And nothing feels cozier than nursing a hearty pint of Guinness or a shot of stellar whiskey in a dimly lit Irish pub while the flakes fly outside. With a sizeable comfort food menu and the largest list of whiskeys in Bar Harbor, Leary’s is a favorite for locals and tourists alike.

Other dining options in town offer a chance to globetrot: the enormous seafood paella with perfect bits of caramelized rice at Havana; the crisp-edged pies at Rosalie’s Pizza; and the tender corned beef sandwiches at Leary’s Landing Irish Pub. End your day with a sunset stroll to Veranda Bar at Balance Rock Inn, a hidden gem where you can drink in both classic cocktails and serene views of Frenchman Bay.
