Suerte, ATX 📍🍳 We had tried this spot for dinner before and loved it, but the brunch? WOW. Everything was incredible 👇 Here’s what we ordered: Chilaquiles: 8.5/10 flavor perfection Pride concha: 9/10 so fresh and the jam was unreal Suadero tacos: 1000/10 🔥SO good (only wish the portion was a bit bigger 🤭) #SuerteATX #AustinBrunch #FoodieFinds #BrunchVibes #austinrestaurants #austintx #chilaquiles...

@Ciara and I went to go try the ultra-hyped Suerte for dinner. This places doesn’t have a Michelin star but was Michelin selected or something. I can tell why everything is super fancy (but good). I wish I was a millionaire because I’d love to eat at places with these prices on the reg and not care. Unfortunately I will not be returning and instead will stick to $2 taco food trucks. Still thinking...

Reviews Summary

Suerte is consistently praised for its innovative interior Mexican cuisine, vibrant atmosphere, and excellent service. Diners rave about signature dishes like suadero tacos and barbacoa, as well as the well-crafted cocktails. While the price point is noted as being on the higher side, the quality of ingredients and culinary execution generally justify the cost. Some find portion sizes could be slightly larger, but the overall dining experience is highly recommended.

"Omg I had years wanted to visit this restaurant and it didn’t disappoint, the food is delicious, the service was genuinely kind, the lady that took care of us helped me with the vegan options I was looking for!, she was the best!, I love the decoration and atmosphere in general!

They have a lot of authentic Mexican dishes and I’m happy their vegan and vegetarian options are SO GOOD too! 🌱🍄‍🟫 (even if there are just a few), hope they will have more soon!

Oh and I LOVE the branding in general!, their visual image is just perfect! ✨🤚

Be aware this place is pricy!

Yo vivi en Mexico como por 15 años y Suerte me hizo recordar mucho lo lindo de ese país ♥️🇲🇽

Definitely I’ll be back!"

Patty Barrientos

"Our waiter was exceptional (Jules) who had good recs and kept the drinks flowing. The decor and atmosphere set the vibe to a great meal as well. I personally preferred the sister restaurant, Este, a little bit more. You can taste how fresh the ingredients are at both restaurants and the quality that goes into the dishes."

Chas Mayer

"From the moment I walked into SUERTE, I was blown away by the aesthetic — it’s modern, warm, and beautifully designed with a Latin-inspired touch. The host was so friendly and welcoming, I was seated quickly and immediately felt at ease.

My waitress, Ella, was absolutely incredible! She was attentive, kind, and extremely knowledgeable about the menu. I mentioned my dairy allergy, and she went above and beyond by creating a customized non-dairy menu for me. She walked me through several options with so much patience and care, which made the experience even more special.

For food and drinks, I tried the tacos (delicious!) along with their take on an espresso martini and a fun frozen cocktail — everything was amazing. I also got to sample the hash, which was fantastic. I kept seeing so many other great-looking dishes come out to nearby tables, so I already know I’ll be back to try more.

SUERTE is truly a gem in Austin — the service, the atmosphere, the food, and the cocktails were all perfect. I 1000% recommend this restaurant and can’t wait to return. Chefs kiss 💋!"

Best Mexican Restaurants in Austin: Where to Order Authentic Mexican Food

This East Austin institution has long been hailed as the number one purveyor of authentic Mexican cuisine, and it indeed lives up to the hype. The bright and welcoming outpost sources local heirloom corn from Central Texas to make their famous masa in-house, and the resulting ultra-fresh tortillas arrive filled with flavor-packed seasonal offerings like confit brisket and oak-smoked pork chops. Weekend brunch sees their take on delicious pastries (including a Beef Kolache), while the Sunday through Thursday happy hour provides fantastic boozy deals. How to order: Order takeout via Toast.

Best New Restaurants in Austin to Try Right Now

Suerte just opened but it's already drawing raves for its thoughtful menu and gorgeous design. At the east side spot, chef Fermin Nunez uses local heirloom corn to craft his dishes, which include goat rib barbacoa with handmade tortillas and tetela al carbon. A sizeable mescal and tequila menu are available, and you'll find both spirits in Suerte's specialty cocktails: the Saturday Sun, with mezcal, lemon, curaçao, maraschino liqueur, lavender bitters, and lavender flower and sugar, is particularly refreshing.

Sometimes we like brunch at Suerte even better than dinner at Suerte. And while you can still get the iconic suadero tacos any time, there’s a good amount of memorable brunch-only dishes, like smoked salmon tostadas, chilaquiles, steak and eggs with a mole chichilo, or a smoked lengua hash. You should just order all of the fun and imaginative pan dulce like pistachio conchas or kolaches with huitalcoche and manchego—they rotate all the time.

And with executive chef Fermin Nunez — a Food & Wine Best New Chef 2021 — at the helm, Suerte goes above and beyond in its refined offerings, from surprising chip-and-dip choices to an alluring selection of cold and raw dishes (the ceviche is mind-blowingly good) to all things masa, heftier dishes like goat barbacoa and wagyu New York strip prepared a la Mexicana, and a diminutive but intriguing menu of veggies that are so flavorful they could make a delicious meal of their own. Indeed, Suerte is the place to go when you want your taste buds to get lucky. There are moles, and then there are the otherworldly moles conjured by Suerte’s coven of culinary wizards. Incorporating non-traditional cooking techniques that include char- ring, burning, and ash roasting, as well as a garden-sized variety of vegetables and dried chiles, they heighten a range of tamales and roast meats, like beef shank straddling a black bean purée and a tostada shell nixtamalized from Texas-grown heirloom corn. In addition to Fermín Nuñez’s way with sauces, chef Derrick Flynn goes big on a bastion of scratch pastries reflecting the season’s best, such as blistered empanadas brimming with peach preserves and chorizo kolaches blanketed under melted havarti cheese.

It’s pretty hard to narrow down our top picks for dinner restaurants in Austin, but Suerte was a shoe-in. This contemporary Mexican restaurant opened in Austin with several local accolades and then quickly won a spot on Food and Wine’s Best New Restaurants list in 2019. Here’s what to expect when you dine at a Suerte: a wooden door with a custom pink sunburst design (yes, please stop to take a picture in front of it!), a lively cocktail list of mezcal and tequila-based drinks, and a locally-sourced Mexican menu of mostly small, shareable plates.

Suerte – As one of the most talked about Mexican spots on the east side, they offer a great mezcal happy hour and buzzy dining room with locals and visitors at all times. You can taste that they make their own masa, and I’d choose this for a weekend night out with friends or for a date. I normally prefer seafood over meat, but this place makes me crave meat for days thanks to their Smoked Goat Barbacoa, where you DIY your own build with their tortillas and salsa and the Suadero Tacos with Confit Wagyu Brisket and Black Magic Oil.

Suerte means “lucky” in Spanish, but the Mexican-inspired cuisine with an emphasis on using local central Texas ingredients is by no means a stroke of luck.
