Reviews Summary

Miller Union is praised for its innovative, farm-to-table Southern-inspired cuisine and excellent wine list, with many highlighting the unique 'farm egg' dish. However, some diners found the prix fixe menu overpriced and experienced slow service or a lack of initial acknowledgment, particularly at the bar.

"We went without reservations (waited 30mnts to be seated at the bar) which the supervisor was always checking on us, while we waited we ordered a drink. Our server at the bar was polite and professional. The sweet potato gnocchi was awesome. My dish (coffee rub steak) was good and the bride sprouts with potatoes was a good way to balance the saltiness of the steak seasoning. The duck was good, but a small portion. The almond cake was bland for me, but my friend loved it. The cocktail was good citrus (bubble wine, vodka, orange and cranberry juice).
It was a good experience, and good service, it didn't become my favorite but it will be a "good experience"."

"Service was incredible! Helped with recommendations and find my new favorite wine! Obviously incredible food, but Laura Lee made it perfect.

Get the farm egg and pork!"

Sarah Jirgal

"We dined last night (V-Day) for the $135 prix fixe menu, and it was underwhelming (and not worth fighting the West Midtown traffic imo). The host area when you first walk in is EXTREMELY tight and congested offering little space for waiting. We arrived early and sat at the modestly sized bar for 15 minutes with NO acknowledgment from either bartender. We eventually called over a bartender to place a cocktail order. We were the only Black couple at the bar - hopefully, that wasn't a factor, but it certainly was a fact. The outside porch was nice, but not as climate controlled as I would've liked. I kept my jacket on the entire evening. Our server was polite and attentive, and with the exception of dessert, I enjoyed my meal (sweet potato gnocchi and fish entree). Overall, the coursing of the meal was a bit slow, and I was surprised that there was no bread service at all. If you're paying $135 for a meal, I think it should include bread service at a minimum. I appreciate the cocktail program as both of my cocktails were quite good. Overall, the Miller Union experience made me appreciate Bacchanalia even more."

The Best Places to Eat in Atlanta

Miller Union may seem like just another follower of the farm-to-table trend, but that’s not what made it one of Bon Appetit’s Best Restaurants in America. The humble decor of this former warehouse in Atlanta‘s Westside provides the ideal environment for Chef Steven Satterfield’s food. Start off with one of the well crafted cocktails, specifically the Miller Thyme, a gin and lemon drink garnished with thyme, or the Pimm’s Teacup, which incorporates Earl Grey tea.

75 Best Restaurants in Atlanta

There’s fancier stuff on the menu, and there are more famous dishes (in particular, an iconic farm egg cooked in celery cream), but the heart of the Miller Union experience is probably still chef Steven Satterfield’s seasonal vegetable plate—on any given night, a virtuosic demonstration of how a sense of place can be expressed through food, whether tomatoes, field peas, okra, or onions. Opening this spot in 2009—and taking home a James Beard Award in 2017 following a string of nominations—Satterfield and general manager Neal McCarthy contributed to a broader redefinition of the meaning of Southern cuisine, freeing it from its chicken-fried stereotypes in the process of creating what remains one of the very finest restaurants in Atlanta, and one that honors our region’s most precious assets: the land and the stories it tells. Sweetening the deal are the value (it’s remarkably affordable for a restaurant of this caliber) and the sweets themselves: In 2021, Satterfield hired pastry chef Claudia Martinez, one of the best in the biz, whose painterly desserts vibe perfectly with the overall vision here.
