What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q is a highly popular Atlanta institution praised for its Texas-style barbecue, especially its legendary brisket and unique chicken-fried ribs. Diners rave about the generous portions and delicious sides like mac and cheese and banana pudding. However, some reviews mention inconsistencies in food temperature and dryness of certain meats.
"What an amazing place to eat smoked and grilled food. Everything is well cooked and served in time. The service is fenomenal. There is in and outdoor seating enough for large groups. I would recommend inside. If you are in this area, you should come and try it. You won’t be disappointed."

"Found a super popular spot nearby that serves fried chicken & BBQ 🍗🔥 The place gets packed fast! I had my eyes on the Smoked Chicken, but sadly it was already sold out 😢 So I went for the Classic Combo (2 meats & 2 sides) instead.
I picked two Beef Briskets — one lean and one fatty. The French guy sitting next to me highly recommended the fatty cut, and wow… he was right. It literally melts in your mouth 🤤✨ The sauces were just okay, but honestly, the brisket was already flavorful enough without them.
For sides, I chose Potato Salad 🥔 and Mac & Cheese 🧀. The potato salad was hearty and filling, while the mac & cheese was absolutely delicious — creamy, cheesy, and comforting in every bite 😍
Overall, super satisfied! Next time, I’ll definitely come earlier to finally try that Smoked Chicken 🙌"

"Wow. This was some GREAT bbq. The portions are HUGE so plan accordingly. We tried walking up and it was a 40 minute wait since prepared. Overall, really good place for some high quality meats, alongside great service and atmosphere. If I go to Atlanta again, I know for sure where to go!"

Best BBQ Restaurants in Atlanta: Local Barbecue Joints to Try Right Now
The original location is in Candler Park, but this famed local BBQ joint also has locations at The Battery, The Works in the Upper Westside, and in Brookwood Hills. Obviously, the brisket is legendary, as are the many ways you can get it. Try the “Burger,” brisket topped with bacon, pickles, onion, melted pimento cheese, and jalapeño mayo on a brioche bun, or the plate served with two sides (one of those sides better be the Fox-a-roni, a hearty combo of mac and cheese and Brunswick stew).
The Casual Weeknight Dinner Guide - Atlanta
Maybe it’s just us, but we’ve never been comfortable having people wish us a “Happy Hump Day” at work. We’re thinking of rebranding it instead as “Wing Wednesday,” but mostly because it gives us an excuse to clock out at 4:59pm and head to Candler Park’s Fox Brothers. It's one of the best barbecue joints in the city, but it's also where we want to end a hard day of work—with the welcoming embrace of patio breezes and the comforting smell of grilled meats.

Fox Brothers (founded by Texas transplants and twin brothers Justin and Jonathan Fox) is a must-go when in need of 'cue in Atlanta. The Candler Park spot gets packed but you’ll be munching on Frito pie (served in a Frito bag) in no time. 10 spots to find the best barbecue around Atlanta
Bar-B-Q, which has been expanding into multiple areas of Atlanta, including their original location on DeKalb Avenue in Candler Park, as well as locations at The Works on the Upper Westside, a “Que-Osk” on Ottley Drive and a shared space with Terrapin Taproom at The Battery (careful: each menu is different). It’s no wonder that this Texas-inspired barbecue joint is so popular with its distinctive, “everything is bigger” attitude, with dishes including Big Tex, featuring sliced fatty brisket on Texas Toast; the Texacutioner, consisting of chopped brisket with hickory-smoked jalapeno cheddar sausage on a Brioche bun (available only at the DeKalb avenue location); and the Texas fries, featuring hand-cut fries smothered in barbecue sauce and topped with brisket or pulled pork, as well as jalapenos and melted cheese. If you’re not in the mood for brisket, try their chicken-fried ribs with white barbecue sauce.
75 Best Restaurants in Atlanta
The fact that this roadhouse-style joint sits next to the absolute worst stretch of DeKalb Avenue and still attracts a stampede of diners is testament to just how good Jonathan and Justin Fox’s barbecue really is—or maybe it’s the other way around, and the endless flow in and out of the parking lot is what turned this patch of DeKalb into the equivalent of a dirt road after heavy flooding. Regardless, the pinnacle of the twin brothers’ Texas barbecue is their brisket—sliced or chopped, with just the right amount of smokiness: judicious but not overwhelming—but don’t overlook the housemade jalapeño-cheddar sausages, smoked wings, or fun Lone Star–style sides like Frito pie. This is the flagship; Fox Bros. also has locations at Armour Yards and Chattahoochee Food Works.
