Reviews Summary

Canoe offers a stunning riverside setting and generally well-executed dishes, particularly appetizers and desserts. While many praise the ambiance and service, some diners have noted inconsistencies in entree preparation and occasional service lapses, especially during busy periods. Despite occasional critiques, the unique location and creative menu make it a popular choice for special occasions.

"Second time coming here to Canoe and it was better than the last! Staff is very professional and friendly. Being right next to the river really elevates the experience here. The food was delicious and met my expectations. Definitely recommend the smoked salmon on potato cakes. Such an interesting way to serve such a tasty fish. I got the Cod and it was phenomenal. The grilled rapini and purple sweet potato were seasoned to perfection. We finished out the meal with the popcorn ice cream since it’s their specialty and it was worth the hype. It was perfectly sweet and the popcorn gave it a great balance of flavor. Hopefully get to come back again soon!"

Manuela Palma

"Overall, the experience was disappointing. I have reviewed over 500 restaurants on Google maps and I would put this in the bottom quartile of the price point.

First, let me start with the positives. The kangaroo appetizer was delicious. It sat on a bed of chickpeas, I believe. The drinks were delicious.

We were a group of eight and several of us agreed that the best dish was the bread. I especially loved the cranberry bread.

This is a nice facility with lots of outdoor space, including a view of the river and an outdoor bar. The restaurant can get loud at times inside due to the acoustics.

I gave the food four stars instead of five because the scallop gnocchi was underwhelming. The bacon overpowered any flavor you could get from the scallops. Four of us at the table ordered it and none was impressed. The plating for the dish was off, literally all the food sat in about 40% of the large plate leaving a very big void that could have been filled in with garnish or the dish could have been served on a smaller plate.

I gave the service one star because they were borderline rude. Examples: (1) my chair was bumped at least five times last night, so often so that the person sitting next to me noticed (2) we ordered sparkling water and the person pouring ice water didn't want to hear it and basically said we would get it anyway. The main server had to bring us new glasses (3) The server roughly interrupted conversation flow several times and she even admittedly wanted to interrupt us.

I can empathize that at some point you need to get the ordering going, but at this price point I would think there would be better training on how to gracefully interrupt. After all, good conversation is part of a great dining experience.

Net net, this is a good restaurant. Perhaps on a bad night. If I were to come back I would sit outside."

"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Unforgettable Dining Experience!

Canoe is hands-down one of the best restaurants in Atlanta and not just for the food (which is exceptional), but for the entire experience. From the moment we arrived, the riverside setting felt like a hidden oasis, with lush greenery and a serene atmosphere that made dinner feel like an escape from the city.

The menu is creative yet rooted in Southern-inspired flavors. We started with the kangaroo and salmon canoes as appetizers (a must-try!) and the duck for main course bursting with freshness and balance.. And save room for dessert was heavenly!

What truly sets Canoe apart is the impeccable service. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and made fantastic recommendations without being intrusive. The pacing of the meal was just right, allowing us to savor each course.

Whether it’s a special occasion or a romantic date night, Canoe delivers on every level. The combination of stellar food, ambiance, and hospitality makes it worth every penny. Can’t wait to return!"
