The BEST pancake I’ve ever had!!!! Bread and Butterfly is a very cute brunch spot outside of Midtown Atlanta. Our three-person party left full, but not disgustingly full, for a moderate $50. The Eggs Benedict and French Omelet with Greens were both delicious. Light, airy, savory but not excessively so. The pancake was unreal. No dense cake-iness common in a typical pancake. The perfect pancake top...

Reviews Summary

Diners praise Bread & Butterfly for its charming French cafe ambiance and delicious, well-prepared dishes, especially the pancakes and brunch items. The service is frequently highlighted as friendly and attentive. However, some guests have experienced long waits and expressed concerns about the pricing relative to portion sizes and the close proximity of tables.

"Just enjoyed a delicious dinner with friends at Bread & Butterfly. It was my first time dining at B&B, we made reservations for dinner and were seated right away. The servers were very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. We started off with the plantain buns, scallops and Haitian pastry. The scallops came in a very tasty curry sauce which we used to dip our buns in. The pastry was filled with a lovely seasoned beef. The chicken was moist and paired so well with the wine reduction sauce. The risotto was filled with herbs. Needless to say we ate it all! Great night out with friends with great food!"

Zakia

"Very good food. I had the lamb belly ummm melts in your mouth..just enough char and very flavorful and tender. The pork ribs were delicious and also very tender. The plantain bread was a surprisingly delicious 😋 treat. The chicken was amazing. I cant wait to go back for brunch so I can get more of those famously delicious biscuits. Great job everyone! The Chef Demetrius Brown is a genius and a very nice guy."

Powerman Luke Cage

"Everything was amazing here. The food, the service, and the beautiful interior of the restaurant. I had the best salmon toast I’ve had in my life so far. It had all of my favorite ingredients in it.

Also, my friend ordered the steak and eggs which turned out to be way too salty, so we told our server and the manager came out and offered to remake it. We did get it remade and it tasted a lot better. I wish I could come here frequently but sadly I don’t live here. I will recommend my friends to go here if they ever visit Atlanta ☺️"

The Best Brunch in Atlanta

At Bread & Butterfly in Inman Park, the tiny brunch menu might seem limiting at first glance, but each item is prepared with such textbook perfection that you probably won’t mind. Soft scrambled eggs and smoked trout, clafoutis, and an ever-changing omelette du jour are all simple, elegant and delicious. Close your eyes and you could be on a sun-dappled Parisian street, were it not for the dining room buzzing with Southern—instead of French—accents.

Then head to the grand dame of the contemporary scene, the High Museum of Art. These Black-owned restaurants in Atlanta deserve Michelin Guide consideration

When Billy and Kristin Allin opened Bread & Butterfly as a Euro-style café and bistro in December 2015, they probably didn’t expect that their Inman Park restaurant would change hands and become Black-owned eight years later. It is now led by chef Demetrius Brown and partner Brandon Blanchard, who began hosting a pop-up event called Heritage Supper Club in the intimate and elegant space before signing agreements to take ownership. Since then, the theme of Bread & Butterfly tells culinary stories of the African Diaspora through classic French dishes, with particular focus on Haitian influence.

By day, executive chef Demetrius Brown serves a menu of breakfast and lunch dishes with a French accent, like lobster bisque and the B&B Egg Sandwich, his take on a Croque Madame with prosciutto Cotto, mortadella, Gruyere, and aioli. At dinnertime, things get more global with a menu inspired by the African diaspora. Expect dishes like Jamaican Spaghetti (house-made fettuccini, mushrooms, tomato, and cured egg yolk), Haitian Patties, and Beef Bouyon with plantain gnocchi, sweet potato, and collards.
