Today we had the pleasure of taking care of a full Soft Wash treatment for Fishhawk Fisheries — the last family-owned seafood processor on the Astoria Riverfront, proudly operating for over 40 years. This was a fun one — we removed years of buildup and brought those roofs back to life while supporting another hardworking local business that keeps our community thriving. Nothing better than locals ...

Sit with me, as I watch my penultimate sunset in Astoria. As I sit and watch from my hotel room, a fishing boat is heading out to the Pacific Ocean, readying itself to pass over the Columbia Bar. A couple is enjoying an evening stroll. This is the Astoria that I will miss, with every shred of my being. #astoria #astoriaoregon #columbiariverbar #pnw #youngsbay

Add Extra Bay Shrimp

Enhance your salad with a fresh addition of bay shrimp for an extra burst of flavor.

Oyster Serving Preference

Request oysters naturally with lemon, as some find the pre-shucked serving style less ideal.

Reviews Summary

Diners rave about the incredibly fresh and delicious seafood, with many highlighting the oysters, calamari, and tuna. The unique seafood fry bread and cozy PNW vibe are also frequently praised. Some minor critiques include the overpowering marinade on the tuna and concerns about how oysters are served.

"Freshest and tastiest seafood I’ve had in town (or even on the coast overall, why is it so hard to find fresh seafood restaurants?!). Been here a few times now and never disappointed. Tried a few different things, smoked tuna melt, prawns, oysters etc…. All delicious! Service was good. Sometimes have to wait for a table and it’s busy so might have to wait for waiter to stop by sometimes but worth it.
Smoked tuna melt- said “lightly smoked” but it’s very smoky :)"

"South Bay Wild Fish House has a cool, PNW vibe to it. The fish was fresh, and crispy. Fried really well. The fish tacos were enjoyed by my sister in law, and the clam chowder was tasty. It’s not a thick, creamy chowder, but it jad a decent flavor. The clams were sparse, so that would be a nice improvement, but it was flavorful.
The waitress was friendly, and the food was hot when she brought it out.
We enjoyed our meal, but I’m not sure we’ll go again. There are other places in the area whose fish and chips and clam chowder are just a bit better."

"We were looking for a lunch spot in downtown Astoria, and luckily found South Bay. What a great restaurant! Super fresh seafood, fantastic service, and really affordable. Some of the best tuna and calamari I've had anywhere. Coming back here whenever we're in Astoria!"

Astoria is a serious fish and chips town. These three spots prove it

In addition to these three standout fish and chip shops, a number of other restaurants serve up fried fish around Astoria. We can’t necessarily vouch for them all, but if all your after is a basket of fish and chips, any of these will surely hit the spot.
