Named after Astoria's first brewery established in 1872, Astoria Brewing Company is the oldest current brewery in Astoria - they opened in 1997 as Pacific Rim Brewing and rebranded in 2005. The ABC has two locations on their block with a large waterfront pub with full-service restaurant and gift shop, plus a tap room on the opposite corner of the block. Enjoy a tasting tray in the tap room and sample up to eight different beers brewed on-site.

Astoria Brewing has outdoor patio seating that overlooks the Columbia River, making it a prime spot to enjoy a beer. Or two, or three…The interior has a cozy, fun vibe, with high wooden ceilings and string lights creating an ambient glow. Astoria Brewing obviously offers beer, but they also run creative drink specials, so you can try drinks you can’t get anywhere else.

One of our favorite things to do in Astoria is to plop down at Astoria Brewing, the city’s oldest microbrewery. It has been overlooking the Columbia River since 1997 and provides great food accompanied by some amazing views and brews. At the very least, you’ve got to pop in for a quick brew and a to-die-for marionberry cobbler (we’ve had it like 5 times; it’s so good)!

Just up the boardwalk from Buoy Beer Company is the Astoria Brewing company. This large bar and brewery features a massive gift shop selling all sorts of Goonies merchandise. Their beers also reflect this with names such as Red Beard Amber Ale and Copperpot Hazy IPA. This was probably my least favourite of the places we checked out in Astoria.

In summer, the viewing deck of Astoria Brewing Co.’s riverfront taproom is packed with visitors, drinking fresh brews and eating fish and chips. In addition to that 11th Street location, there’s a mellow taproom off 12th Street that wraps around the brewhouse one floor below. Serving up local beer and cider on tap at Astoria Brewing Co.

Other top choices include Fort George, which looks out at the river and downtown and might be Oregon's most scenic pub, and Astoria Brewing Company, the oldest craft brewery in town. If you're a stout fan, put Astoria on your calendar for February, when Fort George hosts the Festival of Dark Arts, featuring 80 unique stouts.

Enjoy the bounty of the Columbia River and the Pacific Ocean at Astoria's many fantastic seafood restaurants. Most menus feature all the classics, from crab cakes to cedar-plank salmon. Clam chowder is a local specialty, so is the alderwood-smoked seafood from Josephson's Smokehouse.

We recently joined a special gathering of guests at one of the town’s heritage pubs called the Astoria Brewing Company. While the brewery and pub were established in 1997, the business celebrates a same-name link with the very first Astoria Brewery established in 1872.

Try the Fort George Brewery in a renovated auto repair shop, or Astoria Brewing Company near the waterfront. The South Bay Wild Fish House in downtown Astoria serves scrumptious seafood, or indulge in some old school Italian at Fede Trattoria on Astoria's Pier 12.

Turn east for the oldest craft brewery in town, Astoria Brewing Company (opened in 1997). The styles here are classic and timeless. The crisp, refreshing Pilsner is a bestseller.

The vibes here were great, the staff was pleasant, and the food was even better. I highly recommend getting the beer cheese with apples and pita bread. The patio is dog friendly!
