What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Diners rave about the unique Mongolian BBQ experience and the breathtaking mountain views, calling it one of the best meals while skiing. However, some guests express disappointment with changes to the Mongolian grill preparation, noting a decline in flavor and texture compared to previous versions. Despite this, the atmosphere and service are generally praised.
"Probably the best meal I've ever had skiing. Not overly crowded. Unique opportunity to have made-to-order personalized Mongolian BBQ. Wish this was an option at Snowmass too."

"Please, bring back the original Mongolian grille!!!! I used to love this place for their unique way of preparing the food. We were able to choose our own vegetables and toppings. Now they got lazy and everything is already made, not grilled. I don’t like some vegetables that they have, so, picking your own food is so much better. Not to mention, the food doesn’t taste good because they don’t make it fresh anymore, and the sauce that they put on the bowl instead of cooking together on the grill doesn’t taste as good and the food gets all wet and soupy. Horrible experience. This is not Mongolian grille because they don’t grille your food anymore. Very disappointed! It might be fast and easier to prepare but the quality of the food and the Mongolian experience gets ruined."

"Please Bring back the
old mongolian grill!! They used to ask you assemble your desired ingredients and then cook for you on the grill in real time.
Now in 2025-01, Hugely disappointed to find them “pre-cook” the food for you, and simply assemble the bowl. The outcome is the food tastes terrible now, overly salty with no real flavors. This is a significant downgrade. I can’t even finish the bowl because the bad taste, and man I’m usually a big eater."

Cliffhouse Restaurant, Buttermilk — This is a dining option limited to monthly lunar cycles and then only in winter, but it’s worth it if you can time it right. Buttermilk’s Cliffhouse offers dinners throughout the winter season on the eve of the full moon. You’ll have to exert a bit of energy to get there — either hiking or skinning up the mountain’s Tiehack trail, but the reward is the valley’s most unique dining experience.

Food Matters: In the Mood for Soup?
Merry Go Round on Aspen Highlands and Cliffhouse on Buttermilk will serve pho — not quite ramen, but a fine substitute — says Aspen Snowmass mountain dining executive chef Jim Butchart. (Was the short-lived Double Black Noodle Bar on the second floor of the Wildwood Snowmass just a dream or what?)
