The Cliffhouse sits at the top of the mountain, affording outstanding views, and serves a globally-inspired menu. There’s DIY Mongolian BBQ (you chose the meats and sauces, the chefs do the grilling), fragrant bowls of Vietnamese Pho and superfood grain salads. Uphill skiers flock here on Fridays, coming for the generous Uphill Breakfast Club.

Friday Morning Uphill Breakfast Club (8:45 am, Cliffhouse) The Cliffhouse restaurant, located at the top of Buttermilk Mountain, will play host to a Friday Morning Uphill Breakfast Club in which uphill skiers will be able to enjoy breakfast in the restaurant after hiking up the mountain. Aspen Chamber Resort Association will be sponsoring the remaining breakfasts this season, so you can enjoy your French toast or fried rice for just $8.00 per person. The cozy atmosphere and beautiful mountain views of High Alpine at Snowmass make it a great choice for taking a break from the slopes. The menu includes market-style fresh food, locally and seasonally grown, with various stations serving freshly prepared pizza, homemade soups and stews, fresh salads, grilled burgers, and more. This on-mountain dining experience is a delicious break from a day of skiing or riding and the outstanding views will enhance your dining experience.

Cliffhouse Restaurant, Buttermilk — This is a dining option limited to monthly lunar cycles and then only in winter, but it’s worth it if you can time it right. Buttermilk’s Cliffhouse offers dinners throughout the winter season on the eve of the full moon. You’ll have to exert a bit of energy to get there — either hiking or skinning up the mountain’s Tiehack trail, but the reward is the valley’s most unique dining experience.

When hunger strikes, head to the Cliffhouse Mongolian Grill atop the Summit Express chairlift for some delicious homemade stir-fry. Afterward, step out onto the back patio for one of the best photo ops in Aspen Snowmass – Pyramid Peak towering over 14,000 feet, with gorgeous views of Aspen Highlands terrain just across the way. It’s an idyllic, rewarding day of learning and exploring you won’t forget.

For a DIY mountain lunch check out the Mongolian Grill at The Cliffhouse on Buttermilk. After selecting from a number of fresh proteins, vegetables, and sauces, pass your custom order to the chefs and watch them sizzle your selections on a huge flat-top grill. Dramatic views of Pyramid Peak and the Maroon Creek Valley are an added bonus.

Merry Go Round on Aspen Highlands and Cliffhouse on Buttermilk will serve pho — not quite ramen, but a fine substitute — says Aspen Snowmass mountain dining executive chef Jim Butchart. (Was the short-lived Double Black Noodle Bar on the second floor of the Wildwood Snowmass just a dream or what?)
