Reviews Summary

Diners consistently praise Crow's Nest for its exceptional service and breathtaking views, creating a memorable fine dining experience. While the food is generally considered delicious, with highlights like venison and king crab, some reviews mention it being expensive. A few recent reviews suggest a decline in service and food quality compared to past visits, though many still find it a worthwhile splurge for special occasions.

"Went here for our 10th anniversary for some fine dining and we were not disappointed at all! The service we received was excellent!! The hostess even told us happy anniversary as she checked us in at our table which I was impressed with. Drink waiter did everything exceptional treating us like royalty. The waiter was well versed in all of the menu and made sure we had everything we needed. She worked hard along with everyone else.
The atmosphere! Well for Alaska, this place is well kept and very clean. Nothing was out of order! Our table, window side, was a thing of absolute beauty! All high class!
The food! Tasted wonderful and was all made to perfection. The Venison was made to my liking along with King Crab and corn bisque leaving no complaints at all!! Thankful for the happy anniversary chocolate dish.
Thanks for the memories! Applause to all at Crow’s Nest!!"

Kenny Menendez

"The Crow’s Nest offers a truly spectacular view of Anchorage—an unforgettable backdrop for our grand finale after a wonderful Alaskan cruise and scenic train ride to Denali.

From start to finish, the service was exceptional—warm, attentive, and professional. The food was absolutely outstanding, with every course—from the salad to the dessert—prepared and presented beautifully. The salmon and steak were outstanding.

I would highly recommend dining here if you're looking for a memorable culinary experience in Anchorage. Don’t hesitate—you won’t be disappointed!"

Arelis Diaz

"Excellent restaurant! So glad we were able to snag a reservation here. On clear evenings the 360 view is outstanding. The service was excellent, the wine menu was overwhelming in the best way, and the food was very tasty. My favorite dishes were the halibut and the cheese plate. Highly recommend both of those dishes!"

Restaurants in Anchorage

An absolute must for epicures and adventurous eaters, Crow's Nest uses inspired combinations to highlight, but never overpower, the freshest ingredients Alaska has to offer. Located on the top floor of the Hotel Captain Cook, this is also the best restaurant view in Anchorage, spanning the Chugach Mountains to the east, the Alaska Range to the north and west, and the city 20 stories below. The dress code, like everything in Alaska, is relaxed: business casual, but no sandals and no shorts.

I would have to say that the Crows Nest in the Hotel Captain Cook would be an excellent choice. Unlike the Glacier Brewhouse and Marx Bros, this is located 20 floors on the top of the hotel so the view was unbeatable. The food was fantastic and so was the service.

Where to Eat in Anchorage, Alaska: A Local's Guide to 30+ Places

Many people visit Alaska as part of a special occasion – marking a milestone birthday, on honeymoon, or celebrating an anniversary are the big three I usually hear from readers. This means you may want to splurge on a meal or two; there are some really nice restaurants in Anchorage for a good meal but my personal recommendation is the Crow’s Nest. The Crow’s Nest sits atop the Captain Cook Hotel in downtown Anchorage, and its name is an homage to the top of the tallest mast of ships like those Captain James Cook sailed into Alaska in the late 18th century.

Romantic Restaurants in the Greater Anchorage Area

The Crow’s Nest in the Captain Cook Hotel had many thumbs up votes from my female friends and their spouses. “Always good food and love the ambience.” “Very expensive, but beautiful ambience, unobtrusive service and magnificent food well presented.” Considering they sit atop one of the hotel towers with stunning views of the Cook Inlet, Downtown Anchorage and the Chugach Mountains, I can see where the location is worth a premium price.
