What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Handle Bar and Grill is praised for its unique Route 66 ambiance, friendly staff, and lively atmosphere, often featuring live music. While many rave about the food, especially the "tasty-riffic tacos" and the famous gigantic Bloody Mary, some patrons have noted issues with service consistency and price.
"Great biker bar. Friendly and helpful staff. Red was really nice. Perfect place for a quick bite and a beer. Plus, they have live music on the weekend! Couldn't ask for a better place!"

"Ever since The Handle Bar opened it never ceases to impress! The service is always consistent, it’s absolute crap!!! They never have enough help to cover the inside bar, and the patio area. Had to order my drinks at the bar. Asked if they had someone covering the patio, and was told by the bartender, “Yes, I’ll be out in a couple minutes to take your order.” 10 minutes later I went in to place my order along with 2 others in our group. One couple ordered a Philly and a kids grilled cheese; everyone got there order except the easiest thing to make. The EFFIN GRILLED CHEESE!!! I asked about it, and was told I could make it myself if I thought I could do it faster…Another 15 minutes it finally comes out!!! Tipped her 3¢, and I’m 99.99% sure she doesn’t even know what that means!
Keith, I don’t expect special treatment regardless of the number of $$$’s I’ve spent there over many years, but I do expect a decent level of service!!! You’d think you could fix this after I don’t even know how many years! 🤷🏼🙆🤦
If possible I would give a .25 Star rating… WILL NOT go back."

"Amarillo, Texas —-
The “Handle Bar and Grill” is a “Run-A-Way Bill” Favorite for many reasons.
For starters, it’s located on Historic Route 66. Another reason is it’s in a vintage gas station building. Next, it’s an independently owner/operated business - SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL INDEPENDENT BUSINESS!
Then there is the food. I know this should be 1st on my list of reasons, but the reasons mentioned 1st got me in the door. The food will get me to return.
I like the menu selections, and the Saturday/Sunday only breakfast menu. My tacos were tasty-riffic! The counter/bar seating is always a “Run-A-Way Bill” Favorite seating option.
Lots of atmosphere/flair ... the original Texaco sign, nice neons, window-views of Route 66, indoor table seating for folks with pARTy Pals, and then plenty of outdoor seating facing Historic Route 66.
“Run-A-Way Bill” was here!
.... and will return!

Where to Eat in Amarillo, Texas
Yes, it’s a biker bar, but don’t let the fact that you drive a Subaru keep you from this Texas-style comfort food. The fried bologna sandwiches are chef’s kiss and the gigantic Bloody Mary might as well be a meal. The outdoor dining on Sixth Street really gets our motors running.
