"The not so favorable reviews are for service issues. I didn't see any about the quality/taste of the food so I got some for myself. The food is good tasting and seasoned well! I got a NY strip with loaded mash and throughly enjoyed my meal. The hominy had a yeast smell/taste almost like beer was used to make it and I didn't each much of it. BUT that Cobbler will make your tongue smack your brain out. I would just buy a bowl of the crust if I could. I ordered via UberEats. It was well packed and hot when I received it. As a beverage there was an option for "bar drink" but selecting it didn't populate additional options so not sure what thats for. 9 out of 10. Great food!"

Place was recommended for their chicken fried steak. The food overall was just OK for me. Except for our initial encounter, I would say the service we received was very good. Our waiter was very sweet and friendly. She took great care of us. When we first arrived there was no one at the hostess desk and we waited for a while. We almost decided to leave and go someplace else because it was taking them so long to seat us. It was a Sat night, but after the dinner rush so it wasn't busy. There were only a few other people eating. Someone walked by and said someone will be right with you while we were waiting. It was still another while before someone finally showed up to seat us. The decor is super TX and very cute. My son loved the feel of the restaurant. I really appreciated the live music, it was great. The bandana touch for table napkins & large Mason jars for drinks is cute. On the food side of things, the fried pickles and cheese fries were good, the salad was fresh and I enjoyed the hominy green chili side, very yummy. I read reviews of the pickles being too salty, but we didn't have that experience. Also, I mean, they're pickles, so um, yeah, they're salty, kinda a given. My son enjoyed his patty melt and my husband said his steak was good but a bit more on the well-done side instead of medium. We all got our food, but my son's fried pork chops didn't come out until a bit later in the meal. Our waitress told us "sorry, we have a new cook and he doesn't listen." 🤔 ummm ok. I had the chicken fried steak, it was cooked well but flavorless. It was very easy to taste that the flour batter just wasn't seasoned. There is salt and pepper at the table, but it had zero flavor alone. A flavorless piece of meat fried in flavorless batter. My daughters chicken tenders and my sons pork chops also tasted like they were fried in the same batter and therefore also flavorless. Neither one finished their meal since it tasted like nothing. The baked potato was delicious. The cobbler was also yummy. My potato salad was very sweet so I didn't eat it. Personal preference, I don't like sweet potato salad, but someone else might. As mentioned, all of the fried items were cooked well, the meat inside was tender and the fry on it was nice and crispy, but since it tasted like nothing, it just wasn't palatable for us. The gravy was just ok, I've had better. Everyone liked the fries and loved the onion rings. Also, a storm blew through while we were there and water started dripping from the roof onto the table next to ours and started splashing on my daughter. They might want to look into getting that fixed. It was at the end of our meal and had just finished paying our check so we didn't ask to be moved. Overall, we probably won't be back and we wouldn't highly recommend it, it was just ok. If you're just going for bar drinks and to listen to some live music, this is a good spot."

"Great country home cooking!! We have alot of favorites here but to name a few...Grilled shrimp and catfish are dome if the best. This is my favorite fried okra in town because it is always cooked nice and crispy. Their sweet tea is the best especially since its served in great big Ole mason jars! And the best of all is their peach and plum cobbler. Yummy!"
