The Bolton Estate in Wensleydale has seen a record number of nesting curlews this year, with an estimated 250 pairs on the estate. 🔊 Sound on 🔊 By contrast there are thought to be only 450 pairs of curlew in the whole of the south of England, from Birmingham to Land’s End. The sound the curlew is making is an alarm call to say 'stay away' - protecting their nearby nest from potential predators. #C...

Reviews Summary

The Bolton Arms is highly praised for its incredible food, particularly the Sunday Roast, and its commitment to using locally sourced ingredients. The hospitality is exceptional, with staff and owners going above and beyond to make guests feel welcome, including those with dogs. While most reviews are overwhelmingly positive, one diner reported a negative experience with customers vaping indoors and staff not intervening. Nevertheless, the quality of the food and the welcoming atmosphere make it a destination worth traveling for.

"Great hosts nothing to much, lovely ale well kept. Food very good tasty locally sourced ingredients wherever possible cooked with a passion. Very dog friendly, room warm and comfortable. Will be back for a longer stay!"

"We’ve visited this village pub for meals before but this was our first overnight stay. Room was well equipped & a good size. Staff very friendly & helpful. The highlight of the stay was the food. We ate from the a la carte menu which was excellent quality, like you’d get in a good quality restaurant. There was also a pub grub menu available which looked good & cost less! This pub is in an excellent location for walking or exploring the northern Dales, we’re happy to recommend it, and we’re looking forward to a return visit."

Ian White

"Excellent place to visit. The food is incredible. Worth the travel as nothing like it around the dale. Great beer and such a welcome cosy place to be. Did not want to leave. The staff and the owners were really lovely and there’s nothing that is too much trouble. We are booked in to stay next time and really looking forward to it"
