From the start of the experience to the very end, the staff are extremely knowledgeable, friendly and efficient.

It’s even better as the Pairings Wine Bar has guided wine and gin tasting hosted by knowledgeable sommeliers. Having the wine paired with platters of cheese, olives, and meats makes the whole experience much more memorable.

I have been to Pairings a few times now (great for just before a show at the Grand Opera House) and have always had a lovely time. If you don’t know where it is, it’s on Castlegate next to Rustique and a stone’s throw from the Jorvik Viking Centre. We recently visited and tried one of their Sharing Boards, where you can choose what charcuterie and cheeses to try.

Coming in third place, you can order European wines, cheese and meat platters from this Castlegate wine bar. With endless five star reviews, you can taste Lomo Iberico Bellota pork loin, Duck Rillette, Fourme D'Ambert blue cheese, truffle cheddar and much more. You can order from the takeaway collection service six days a week with the exception of Wednesdays.
