What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Wykeham Arms is celebrated for its incredibly atmospheric, historic setting and warm, friendly service. Guests rave about the delicious, well-prepared food, particularly the hearty mains and outstanding breakfasts. While the ambiance and hospitality are consistently praised, a few diners noted that main course portions could be smaller for the price, leaving them still hungry.
"An old pub so don't expect modern hotel style rooms. Amazing suite with comfy bed, free mini bar, hot drinks and home made biscuits. Roll top free standing bath if you want to relax after a hard climb up the cathedral tower.
Breakfast was amazing. Great selection but the full English was wonderful. Great ingredients and cooked well. For coffee lovers, the coffee they serve is great !
The pub was jumping and lively on the nights we stayed ( Friday to Sunday ) which is always a good sign. Staff were friendly, helpful and fast.
The location nigh on perfect. Not quite in the centre so quiet, but very close so a five minute walk and you're there.
Parking can be a challenge as it is a small car park but they basically keep your car keys and shuffle cars around if needed so no real stress there.
Will definitely be back again."

"A wonderful place, come here every year with university friends and this was the first year we stayed. A charming building, lovely rooms, great staff and delicious food. Perfect location for exploring Winchester and the scenic areas by the river. Thoroughly recommend a visit and / or a meal here."

"This hotel is a 270 year old treasure. Rooms are super nice with all the modern conveniences but retain the antique charm. Pub is fantastic as is the included breakfast to order. And the location is perfect for any shopping or sightseeing in Winchester."
