What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Duke of Oxford is lauded for its exceptional food, particularly its burgers and Sunday roasts, served in a uniquely cozy and traditional pub atmosphere. The staff are consistently praised for their friendliness and professionalism, with special mentions for their helpfulness and knowledge. While the food is often described as outstanding, some reviews note it as consistent and tasty rather than truly exceptional, though the overall dining experience is highly recommended for its ambiance and welcoming nature.
"This was a superb pub for drinking, with a grand feel that incorporates feeling of an older pub in its design! The pillars and large lights help do this, writing engraved on the walls is entertaining in itself. The counter is neatly presented with a variety of ciders of course for Somerset and I enjoyed a Mango Cider, sitting comfortable at a round table!"

"What a lovely, "proper" pub with comfy nooks, beams, and a traditional feel. We didn't want a wide open, all the same level, chain-type, generic venue. We wanted to eat somewhere that felt special and unique, and this did.
The food was excellent: generous portions and well-cooked. All the staff were really friendly and our waitress was so helpful. We came for a special meal with our adult family members and it was perfect. We spent quite a lot, but that included a significant amount of alcohol too! 😂"

"It was my sons 18th and Nando's had shut early, which meant we crossed the road over to this gem of a place. So glad we did! The food was outstanding, we had the katsu burger, Duke burger and chocolate cheesecake. The burgers was out of this world, absolutely delicious. The staff were professional, polite and helpful. The atmosphere and interior was delightful, cozy and welcoming. 100% recommend"
