What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Diners praise Bistrot Pierre for its stunning sea views and affordable French cuisine, with many highlighting the excellent value of the set menus. Service is often described as attentive and friendly, contributing to a lovely ambiance and enjoyable dining experience, though some have noted slow service or cramped seating arrangements. The food is generally well-received, with particular mentions of steak frites and desserts, though dietary accommodation for vegans has been a point of concern for some.
"Booked a table for 6pm turned up early and was able to sit straight down. I did request a window seat but it looked like they only had tables of 4 by the window which was a bit of a shame and we where squeezed in to a table I would say was far too close to other tables both sides so to get in and out was a bit awkward. Luckily there wasn’t anyone sitting on one of the tables next to us other wise I would have dropped a star. That was the only negative thing but like I say luckily there wasn’t anyone on one of the side of us so it ended up not being an issue. Service was spot on our waiter was there when he needed to be and not constantly coming over brought our drinks and food out in great time. We got the 3 course meal and 2 glasses of the house red which I recommend. Jug of water brought out to us when we sat down nice touch. Starter we got the calamari really delicious. Both got steak, chips and garlic sauce which were cooked to perfection. Then we got the cremè brûlée, chocolate mousse and we got the baked cheesecake which all were outstanding and tasted so fresh. The bill automatically adds a tip 10% which I don’t really agree with as it should be up to you if your experience deserves a tip. Am not sure if you can ask to get this taken off but on this occasion the staff 100% deserves that 10% and more if I had cash on me. When we come back next year we will definitely be returning 10/10 well deserved thanks."

"Great location with wonderful sea views, booked in advance, delicious food: starter, main course and dessert.
The service is very slow, we waited for the waiter to order the dish, then to pay.
The outdoor terrace has iron chairs, cold for the buttocks, felt uncomfortable, if there were some cushions on the chairs it would be great."

"We ended up going to Bistrot Pierre after exploring the Torquay harbour looking for a reasonably priced restaurant with our dog. I wish we had gone straight here if we had known how good the food was and that it was dog friendly!
The set menu was well priced, 2-course £20.95 and 3-course £24.95. Our meal (red pepper & tomato arancini, chicken fricassee x2, crème brulee and dark chocolate mousse) was absolutely delicious, full credit to the chef. Fantastic flavours and presented extremely well.
The service was also very good, well done to Igor (highly professional and friendly) for bringing water for the dog and generally looking after us throughout our visit.
The venue, with great views of the harbour and split across two levels) had a cosy feel to it and even had an outdoor fresh seafood bar next to the restaurant. We were very impressed with our visit to Bistrot Pierre and would recommend this to anyone looking for great food and service while in Torquay."
