What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Scholars Restaurant offers a mixed dining experience. While some guests praise the delicious food, particularly the roast beef and salmon, and appreciate the cozy atmosphere reminiscent of Hogwarts, others have reported significant issues with slow service, undercooked or salty food, and even concerns about the establishment's practices. It appears to be a place that can deliver a pleasant meal but with notable inconsistency.
"Good scotch selection and nice comfy seating areas."

"Scholar's? Dunces more like!
A V O I D ! ! !
Got as far as the first course being delivered to the (sticky) table. Focaccia crisp breads? Mother's Pride. Asked if they'd run out and after five minutes of debate in the kitchen, two squares of "fresh out of the oven" focaccia arrived. Still frozen in the middle. The chicken liver and smoked duck parfait curiously had three thin strips of chicken laid across the top like three albino slugs sacrificed on a shiny altar of mediocrity.
Exit stage right to find food fit for human consumption.
Frankly, the place must still be aspiring to the standards of the Wetherspoons down the road, but so far has only achieved the All Tables And The Bar Must Be Sticky standard - the bar surface was stickier than a reel of duck tape dipped in bostick. I feared for tearing a sleeve off my shirt after leaning on the bar.
It was a Sunday night and maybe the B Team was on, but that's no excuse for paying customers where the price is the same every night. I had also taken the hotel's prepaid offer too - BIG mistake.
Currently writing this from a nice Italian restaurant at the bottom of the hill. Stirling seems to have quite a few reasonable restaurants within 5 minutes walk of the hotel. I strongly recommend the walk to find something better."

"A wonderful Valentine's Day dinner.....every course was delicious. Well done! The restaurant needs a few bright accessories to lighten the monochrome colour scheme"
