Reviews Summary

Moomaid Of Zennor is celebrated for its delicious, locally-made ice cream with unique flavors and a charming atmosphere. While many rave about the quality and service, a few reviews mention specific flavors being less impressive than expected. The savory options also receive high praise for their fresh ingredients and taste.

"really love this place <3 their chocolate ice cream and mocha were beautiful and delicious!! my partner offered to pay for an empty cone as i wanted to eat the cone without the ice cream (weird cravings lol) and the lovely lady just gave it away for free. honestly such a lovely hidden gem with a really cute giftshop too!! feel like it would be a lovely place to study and do some work but sadly we arent locals, would definitely recommend this cafe xxx"

"The tomato soup with the cheese scone was so delicious; the soup was herby with a bit of spice, not too salty and the cheese scone was warm, the butter softened. Thoughtful service. That bowl really did the trick on a cold February day.

I had ice cream, of course. The flavours I chose did not disappoint (2 scoops, one Belgian choc, one vanilla). I didn't have space for the popular 'Shipwreck' at the time. I did, however, go back the next day to get a scoop, and yes, delicious 😋

I also tried the seasonal apple cider sorbet. I think if I had a whole scoop in the summer as opposed to a taster in February, I would have to enjoy it as a sorbet float 🍹✨️"

"My personal favourite ice cream (alongside Roskilly's) but they do a very nice lunch too. We had emmental, pastrami and gherkin toasties. Highly recommended. And the Moo-berry flavour ice cream seemed to give me a remarkable energy boost that lasted the rest of the day! Apparently it is made with about half a dozen different berries. Have they discovered some new secret formula?! 😁"

The Picky Glutton

Eating my way around Cornwall, from St Ives to Falmouth

Cornwall has a couple of native ice creameries, the most eclectically named of which has to be Moomaid of Zennor. In terms of sheer mouthfeel, Moomaid’s ice creams were among the luxuriant I’ve had this side of Rome with a lusciously thick creaminess that was nonetheless refreshing. It’s therefore a real shame that both the pistachio and vanilla flavours were muted, while the salted caramel and honeycomb was excessively sweet.

My Favourite Cheap Eats in St Ives, Cornwall

This small ice cream parlour is an institution in St Ives (and you can’t visit the seaside without eating ice cream, am I right?) The ice cream is locally-made in nearby Zennor and you can either order individual scoops by the cup or cone, or opt for a drool-worthy sundae concoction. Be sure to try the “Shipwreck” flavour (clotted cream ice cream with salted caramel and honeycomb); you won’t regret it.
