The star of the St Andrews beer show, this brew pub is one in a million. Between the sumptuous selection of multi-award winning craft beers straight from their local craft brewery, 18 taps of non-stop elixirs and epic range of bespoke gins, bourbons, cider, unusual wines and coveted malt whiskies, the whole scenario is golden. Rows of pretty cascading fairy lights embellish the already trendy relaxed furnishings, while the gourmet food champions local artisanal businesses.

When we visited in 2019, the St Andrews Brewing Company had two locations, but the lively pub on North Street, unfortunately, has closed. Nevertheless, the St Andrews oatmeal stout at the original location on South Street remains unrivaled. A relative newcomer in the local pub scene (the brewery was founded in 2012), the pub has plenty of open space, which differs from many of the more established pubs, and booths are often filled with some of the 9,100 students at the University of St Andrews (founded 1413).

The new kid on the block when it comes to this list, The St. Andrews Brewing Company has quickly left its mark on The Home of Golf. From an extensive selection of local craft brews - the H&B Concierge suggests the Yippie IPA or the Crail Ale - to an enjoyable menu of pub grub, this is an outstanding choice to raise a glass after a round on the historic links. In addition to the town's watering holes, there's an abundance of enjoyable things to see in St. Andrews off the golf course.

This charming B&B is located just 2 kilometres from the Open Championship golf course and a short walk from Fife's town centre, offering a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Guests have exclusive use of the entire downstairs area, including a private bedroom, shower room, kitchen, living room, conservatory, and back garden, perfect for couples seeking a cosy getaway.

It’s a taste I have yet to acquire, as spending time and money trying to make myself like a beverage is low on my priority list at the moment. So, this particular opinion is not my own but a conclusion I have come to after extensive research (I asked my flatmate). St Andrews Brew Co has an extensive selection of craft beers both brewed in house, in Scotland and further afield.

The St Andrews Brewing Company brought along a Limited Edition beer (Big Red Rooster) to their first Night Market. Another newcomer was Campervan Brewery which only launched two months ago. Alchemy Brewing was also there with a variety of beers to taste and buy!.

You’ll start your day in the centre of the town at the West Port– one of Scotland’s oldest surviving medieval gates. It was built in 1587 as a symbol of civil pride and is the entrance to South Street, which leads to the heart of St Andrews.
