Reviews Summary

Forge Bakehouse is a beloved artisan bakery and cafe, lauded for its exceptional sourdough and pastries, particularly the almond croissant. Many enjoy the unique brunch options and expertly crafted coffee in a bright, airy setting. However, some patrons have noted slow service and inconsistencies in pastry quality, along with rising prices.

"A great coffee shop, definitely worth a visit! I have been to Forge Bakehouse (2 brunches) several times and I keep going back. Baked goods and break are of very high quality, service has always been very good. Personal favourite, the almond croissant, hands down, best almond croissant I ve had!"

Eleni Routoula

"The pastel was excellent, with a crisp pastry casing that was the perfect thickness and a rich, creamy filling. The chocolate cookie was rather average, though the banana and peanut muffin was lovely. The icing was tasty, despite the muffin itself being slightly too dense. The texture of the candied banana and peanuts added a nice touch elevating it. However, the establishment is not the cheapest of bakeries."

Daryl Monserrate

"We got Forge Bakehouse Pastries for an event we had near Sheffield, they were so good, they looked great, tasted fantastic and everyone loved them, they flew out! I wouldn’t hesitate if you’re thinking of buying they’re fantastic!

Staff in the shop were boss, very helpful and quick, we will be back for future events and anytime we visit personally!

Thanks so much guys! ❤️"

An eminent bakery with around a dozen sunny tables (inside and out), Forge Bakehouse made a name for itself with its superb sourdough loaves, although the pastry selection should also be celebrated: the vegan maple pecan swirl is a thing of sticky beauty. A regularly changing line-up of sandwiches with generous, comforting fillings shows off the sheer quality of Forge's focaccia, while other options include savoury filled croissants and chunky pork and fennel sausage rolls.

Sheffield Restaurants and Where To Eat in Sheffield

Martha Brown started The Forge Bakehouse in 2012 following a year studying at Nottinghamshire’s School of Artisan Food. It’s become a community hub and in the past five years, Martha’s tiny shop has grown into larger premises where you can buy a large range of sourdough, long-fermented bread and pastries. What’s on offer changes regularly – the loaves, ciabatta, baguettes and batards can cover anything from dark and dense Nordic-style bakes to creamy white sourdough, with an imaginative approach to flavour (raisin and rosemary, apple and oat, rye and caraway and beetroot and cumin).

Not far away is the Forge Bakehouse, where everything from the seasonally-changing bread, pastries and even the fillings for the patisseries are handmade on the premises. It’s so good that it’s almost impossible to get a shot of the bakery fully stocked, so get there early before they sell out. As well as baked goods to take away, food and drinks are served from breakfast until dinner within the lovely light-filled glass extension on the side of the bakery, with a further seating area upstairs.

**Tucked away in the midst of Abbeydale Road, this artisan bakery produces the most delicious sourdough, continental bread and pastries in Sheffield. They use ingredients that are organic and locally sourced and refrain from using any additives, preservatives or improvers in their dough. Although the bakehouse is designed as a to-go shop, they do have a few seats on the side of the shop for those of us who would like to sit-in and treat ourselves to their breakfast.
