"It seems almost all chippys in Scarborough fry in beef dripping. A kind lady from one of the many places we asked advised Papa's use vegetable oil. I asked just to make sure and the kind lady behind the counter even advised they use 4 separate fryers so the chips were cooked on their own. Brilliant! My wife is vegan and we were looking forward to chips by the sea.... Well these didn't dissapoint, absolutely delicious. Proper chippy chips, cooked to perfection. So good we had another potion each later on in the day! Can't say what the fish is like as neither of us had, but the chips 10/10 for me."

"Awful food. Got the small Papa combo and the fish cake wasn’t even cooked properly. I asked for breaded fish and got told when I picked it up they don’t do it and apparently thought I meant the fish cake. I ‘had’ to choose a sauce so went for gravy and you can tell it was that disgusting powdered stuff. Go somewhere else to eat"

Sue and Lizzie served us last week and I can honestly say they were the best shop bought chips I've had in a long time, Not greasy at all , hot and full of flavour......and plenty of them !. I cant understand anyone saving the portions are small...they are not. You can choose different portions sizes if you want but there is always plenty of them.

Papa’s Fish Bar – this seafront fish bar has been voted the best in the UK. If you have read my foodie guide to Edinburgh, you will know I have personally awarded that particular prize to Alba D’Oro, but even I have to admit… the chips here are probably the best I have ever eaten.
