"I so wish I had discovered this absolute gem earlier in my trip. Everything about it is lovely. The setting, with the huge art-deco windows, is perfect for a start. The menu is adventurous, adding twists to standards. My full English, for example, came stacked in a toasted ciabatta and was lovely. ( £9). But I could easily have opted for the Middle Eastern tomato and egg Shakshuka (£10), a croque madame (baked ham and cheese with bechamel sauce with an egg on top) or a rarebit 'pimped up with crispy bacon'. (£10.50). A pot of real Yorkshire tea (£2.40) washed it nicely down. Much else to eat too, including an impressive specials board. Something for everyone, for sure, reflected by the client base. Families, young folk, older couples and workmen at the end of their night shift.
It's all very informal and undoubtedly my favourite eatery in the town"
