Established in 1917 as an unlicensed Italian café, The Ivy expanded into its current site in 1923, quickly becoming an institution for the highbrow theatre set, including regulars Laurence Olivier and Noel Coward. Having passed through many hands — Corbin and King bought it in the late 80s, Richard Caring has been the owner since 2005 — The Ivy experienced a decline in favour, before benefitting from a makeover in 2015. It didn’t just get a rather impressive art deco bar, but a new menu too — with Asian-influenced dishes rubbing shoulders with the classics (shepherd’s pie, sausage and mash) for which it is so loved.

Escape the hectic city life and head down to Princess of Wales Conservatory in Kew gardens; this is the perfect spot to spend quality time with family, friends or solely relax and unwind. Tour from the deserts to the tropics with a voyage through this vitreous wonderland. The gardens consist of computer-controlled climate zones; the Princess of Wales Conservatory is a smooth complexity directing you through a series of charming ecosystems.

This boutique hotel, right opposite Hampton Court, boasts several restaurants and bars, but the one you need to know about is their riverside brasserie with a lovely terrace overlooking the river. It's covered during the winter and spring but you can also get a great view of the river from the main restaurant. Anglo's Mark Jarvis is behind the menu here and there's also a Whispering Angel riverside terrace for summertime drinking.

The Ivy brasserird can be found all over London and are always a solid choice for a tasty brunch. The Richmond location near the Thames is fitted out with Art Deco furnishings, including a brass bar and orange banquettes. The brunch menu includes all the classics, from more breakfast-leaning options such as eggs Benedict and pancakes, to traditional lunch fare such as fish 'n' chips, curries and steaks.

Now this is a tricky one to get in, as it’s more of a restaurant but is a great destination especially in the winter months to get a hearty brunch and a hit of caffeine. The Ivy sounds expensive but it’s pretty reasonable for what it is, you can also get some very instagrammable photos in there and enjoy the amazing decor. For around £25 you’ll get a good brunch dish and a cup of coffee.

The Ivy Richmond do a Saturday and Sunday Brunch (and bank holidays). The restaurant itself is a beautiful art deco inspired space. With options like Truffle Arancini, Zucchini fritti, Eggs Benedict and Avocado Benedict, as well as Hot Buttermilk Pancakes for those (like me) with a sweet tooth!
