"We stayed overnight here recently. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the food was amazing. With 2 lovely fields and a nice beer garden we will return for food alone. I had garlic mushrooms( which I would rename mushroom pepperpot) and pork belly with mustard mash, veg and apple sauce. I could have ate it twice over. My only issue was that I couldnt get enough crackling. My partner had prawn cocktail and steak and ale pie which you could tell was long, slow cooked beef and excellent quality. Would highly recommend."

"We had to be on this side of Preston around dinner time and after looking at reviews decided to give the Hand&Dagger a try. On this early evening, we were pleasantly surprised the place was already serving a few clients. More were to follow in the time we were there. The Specials board had a nice selection as did their menu. We started with the battered Brie with cranberry, served with a lovely small side salad. My husband had the steak and ale pie and enjoyed the puff pastry crust. I had a tuna melt baguette with side chips, which were nicely portioned and quite nice. All were promptly served piping hot. We declined dessert as we could not stomach another bite.
The friendly landlord took to our Buster and tempted him with treats. It was a nice spot!"

"We celebrated the life of my Friend here today. I must say, I have never been welcomed and hosted this well in a long time. A country pub would be a disservice to the Hand & Dagger. Exceptional service and superb quality of the food offered was above and beyond.
