There's also a Tapas restaurant next door but one to Pizza Express but I've only visited very briefly.There is a restaurant called Franco's on the way between Preston and Longridge that's your typical Italian restaurant (tres romantic) and also Quattro's out towards Samlesbury but they may be a bit of a walk. The Italian Orchard at Broughton would probably be a good bet for the taxi journey but I haven't been there for a couple of years so wouldn't like to speak as to the quality. I've also heard good things about the restaurant at Preston Marriott on the A6 but I've never been there except for coffee-and-biscuits meetings.

Eateries like Plau, Café Bar, Angelos, Fino Tapas, We Don't Give a Fork, Kim Ji, Smashed and bars such as Winckley Ale House, the Conti, All Hopes No Promises and Niko (my god, Niko!) make up a city centre we can all be proud of. However, like most smaller cities, we've often lacked a place we can sit and have proper noodles, sushi and ramen - a Japanese restaurant.

Fino Tapas prides itself on creating adventurous small plates using local produce, making it the ideal dining option when visiting Preston. Tucked away, the grand entrance opens into a light and bright space bedecked with botanicals and hints of the Med. With a quirky outdoor seating area, sociable booth seating, and more intimate areas, Finos is suitable for all.

One location is on Guildhall Street in Preston, and the other is on Liverpool Road in Penwortham, Preston.

Fino Tapas offers more than just a selection of tapas plates. This is a laid-back restaurant where the tenets of Spanish dining shine. Think adventurous sharing plates, authentic Spanish recipes, an informal atmosphere, and friendly service.

We went at lunchtime to the first place on my list; Fino Tapas in Guildhall Street in the City Centre. Online reviews mention ‘spectacular food and service’, ‘crispy, tender calamari’ and ‘divine pig’s cheeks’.
