How I spent 3 days in the Peak District without a car 🚗💨: Whilst I don’t mind public transportation (and their notorious reliability), in the countryside, the peak district is known for its fantastic hiking trails so this was the perfect opportunity to walk most places. I heavily relied on the 170, Trans-Peak (TP), and the Sixes (6.1) bus services, using Chesterfield as a base to begin the advent...

Reviews Summary

The Manners offers a generally positive dining experience with a focus on pub classics and a warm, dog-friendly atmosphere. While many praise the exceptional service and good value for food, some reviewers have found the Sunday roast to be overpriced and disappointing, with inconsistent quality.

"Amazing place! Booked a table in advance for Sunday for 3 people plus dog, the welcome and service we received was absolutely superb (nothing was too much trouble!), the food was all out of this world and well priced. Much fuss was also made of our dog. Can't wait to return on our next trip to Bakewell!"

Chris Baker

"We stopped off for food, has ample parking at the back, a beer garden and some semi outdoor seating at the back.
Could do with a bit of a deep clean and love but seemed a lovely pub. Food was of good quality and didn't seem like the usual microwave fair, dog loved his full dinner.

Dog friendly pub."

Phil Robinson

"Stayed using the camper spots.
Good value for the parking.
Do bear in mind you can only use toilet facilities and only when the pub is open.
Which is fine, but if you need more then may want to look elsewhere.

Plenty of space for a medium camper. (I have a converted small van so was easy)

It's so handy being so close to the town though. Unlike most local campsites.

Beer was fine. Service was lovely."

This is a Robinson’s pub, and it shows in the cask offering: Robinson’s Unicorn, Wizard, Trooper and Dizzy Blonde (despite the name, the visual branding has improved since 2016). The beer is perfectly fine, just not the most exciting to me. Instead, this pub is best visited for its food.
