"This is a superb Inn located in the picturesque village of Elton, Cambs. I have been a regular traveller to Elton in recent years and always stays at The Crown. The rooms are large and very modern and very cosy and very warm in winter. Beautifully decorated. Vey well managed too. The service has always been excellent - nothing is too much trouble. Food is really first class and well priced. The Village itself and its surrounds are a photographers and a walkers delight. This has to be one of the best places to stay in the Counties. Stay, enjoy, smile!"

"We met friends there for a Sunday lunch a few weeks ago. We were a table of 7, and the service was awful. The server couldn't tell us what lager was on draught, and agreed it would be a good idea for one of us to go and check. We waited a while for our food order to be taken. The food was good, with most of us having the roast, which was nice. We then sat there with our empty plates in front of us for nearly an hour. We weren't asked about a 2nd drink or condiments when the food was brought, so one of the group had to get up to go and order another round and ask for condiments. We were also not asked how the food was, which is unusual. We were then given dessert menus, and after about 15 mins of waiting for the server to come back and take our order, we had to go and find her to ask her to take our order. When we ordered, I asked for the bill to be brought with the desserts (to speed things up). This didn't happen, so I had to get up again to go and ask for the bill where I found 3/4 servers stood chatting. There was no acknowledgement of the slow service or care to ask about our experience once finished. I've worked in the service industry before, so I know it can be hard, but that was very poor. It was such a shame to have this experience after hearing great things! Maybe it was an off day, but that was our experience."

"Very much over priced I’m afraid. Looks beautiful outside. Staff seemed as if they just couldn’t be bothered. Room we got was above the bar and extremely noisy if I had known yes I could have done something about it. Probably need to say to people it’s above the bar is that ok. So people know. I love a pub with a sole but sometimes need to chill. The room was nice but needs blinds as well as shutters. Shutters don’t keep out the light even when shut. And was woken up in morning by the light. Food was nice needs more choices on menu or specials board. It wasn’t to everyone’s taste and was a bit pricey. Just even adding more steak choices with different sauces and smaller plates . choices like homemade Nachos and wings and nibbles like hummus .Also think of the prices. Little bites can add up and people like to get those sort of things and don’t mind paying for them even homemade sausage rolls scotch eggs.Yes I have stayed in a lot of places and I mean a lot. All prices from pubs to really top 5 star hotels. And yes I do expect the price we pay to reflect the service and customer satisfaction we pay for. And yes I write a lot of reviews to tell people what to expect good and bad I’m afraid. We all have different tastes as well."
