The Ten Bells is a relaxed bar and pub that can be found on Norwich’s beautiful and historical St Benedict Street, at the bottom of Ten Bells Lane. If you want a real booster, you must visit The Castle off Ketts Hill a pub that's gay through-and-through, very busy and attracting a youngish crowd. It�s reached via a charming walk through the old-world Cathedral quarter and over the river once more, and has friendly staff and a large garden for some summertime boozing.

There are outdoor heaters for the chillier evenings and food from FUP Burger to munch on.

The Ten Bells has a particular claim to fame; it is home to Norfolk's first gin distillery which also produces Bullards Gin, which was revealed as the World's Best London Dry Gin at the 2017 World Drink Awards. What more do you need to pop down for a visit?

The Ten Bells has been open since the 1700's and is without doubt an established part of Norwich, a city well known for its pubs, and with the new management and recent refurbishments it has been given a new lease of life.

While it still boasts some of the city's best pubs such as the Rumsey Wells and Ten Bells, it has also lost some much loved boozers including the Birdcage and the Ironmongers Arms.

This week I visited Norwich’s Ten Bells to take a tour of the Bullards Gin Distillery and taste their range of gins – including the latest addition to the family – Old Tom.
