Reviews Summary

The Queen Eleanor is praised for its excellent value, generous portions, and friendly, efficient service, even when busy. It's a popular spot for families, offering a welcoming atmosphere and kid-friendly amenities. While the food is generally well-received, some reviews note that the furniture and decor could use an update.

"Another Sunday lunch at the Elly, same great experience. Unbeatable for value (£11 ea, including a pint). Friendly, smiling staff, prompt service, hot food (plenty of it), great roasted spuds and lovely thick gravy. These guys have it nailed. Thanks!"

Andrew and Catherine Newman

"I am staying at a local hotel and this venue is handy due to location.
The staff are friendly and the food has been very good and arrives promptly even when busy.
It is highly popular with senior customers and has a generally good feel although the furniture and decor are very tired indeed with most seating heavily stained."

Guy Murray

"Best meal I've had in ages. Team were run off feet but service was speedy. Food was hot and fresh and they were friendly and smiling. What more could you ask for"

Attractive 17th century real ale pub situated in the centre of the village directly opposite what is considered to be the finest of the surviving Eleanor Crosses, built by Edward I in 1295 to mark the resting place of Queen Eleanor's coffin on her last journey from Nottingham to London in 1290. The main entrance contains the former off-sales window with doors leading to a traditional bar to the right and a lounge bar to the left. The lounge bar has a further raised area towards the rear adjacent to the back entrance.
