What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Diners consistently praise St Petroc's Bistro for its excellent food, attentive service, and welcoming atmosphere, particularly highlighting the quality of steaks and seafood. While many enjoy the overall experience, a few reviews mention that the pricing might be on the higher side, and some dishes could benefit from better flavor balance or more generous portions.
"Stopped for a quick late lunch on route home (north) today after a week in St Ives. Perfect table, excellent service, and three courses for £23.95 and included egg salad, roast chicken, and chocolate/rum dessert. Kids meals were also excellent (squid/rump steak + chips). Deserves to be packed out at lunch but was quiet."

"This is the first time we visited a Rick Stein’s eatery. There are several restaurants run by Rick in Padstow, one serving French cuisine and another offering international fusion menu. Finally we decided to go for the French food rather than its international fusion alternative. This cozy bistro has a 3 courses lunch menu which is well below £25 but they haven’t compromised the quality. The starter salad is very refreshing, the hake has a hint of fennel which makes it especially delicious. And the chocolate mousse is finished with a drop of whiskey that brings along more flavour. Also, its environment is truly relaxing. Generally speaking it’s an excellent experience."

"My wife and I enjoyed three wonderful nights at the St Petrocs Bistro.
We swapped between two rooms, both beautifully furnished and decorated to a high standard, with extremely comfortable beds providing a great night's sleep!
Our first room was up on the top floor in the attic with views over the estuary. I believe this was one of the larger and more expensive rooms (wife booked) and it was extremely spacious and beautifully presented, but it was very warm on our arrival after a hot day. The team did provide a water cooling system, which did manage to cool the room down and they also offered to add ice to the machine in order to speed up the process. Otherwise, the room was fabulous and only warm for a couple of hours on one evening.
Although sad to leave this room, we swapped to the Garden room on our last night which, whilst smaller, maintained the high standards of decoration, fixtures and fittings.
We ate at the restaurant on two evenings and the food was excellent on both occasions. Some reviews comment on pricing but the restaurant uses quality ingredients and we really enjoyed our meals. I also attended one of the cookery classes where we actually cooked a few of the menu items from the Seafood restaurant. Here too, the emphasis was on quality ingredients, and the standards are high.
But - our experience was made all the better due to the amazing team of great people working here! From the moment we arrived and were greeted by Lucy, we were made to feel so welcome. Nothing seemed too difficult for the team and they would often drop what they were doing to help or answer our questions. Deborah-Jane assisted us as we left, allowing us extra time to pack as we managed the demands of our three month old. I wish I had asked for all of their names as they all deserve a mention - they made our stay all the more enjoyable. Truly excellent service!!
Thank you very much indeed."
