As you walk along Padstow’s picturesque harbour side, you will come across the lovely Cherry Trees Cafe. Whilst discovering the charming fishing village of Padstow, whether that be strolling along the golden sandy beaches, embarking on the iconic Camel Cycle Trail or wandering around with the hope of bumping into Poldark, a stop off at the Cherry Trees Coffee House must be scheduled into your visit. Kicking us off into caffeine bliss is a popular and friendly spot, run by a lass from New Zealand who has a family history of cafés in Padstow. She's truly living the dream: "Everyday I get to do what I love most which is bake cakes, biscuits and any other yummy dish that I have dreamt up overnight." We might be just a little bit jealous!. Found on Padstow’s historic West Quay, Cherry Trees Coffee House makes for an excellent place to stop off and try one of the best cream teas in Cornwall. Offering stunning views of the harbour, this popular café also serves a vast range of other breakfast and brunch items on its menu. Despite only being a small venue, it makes for a great place to stop off whilst exploring this bustling tourist town.

You might remember I checked out Cherry Trees a few years ago when we were there. And this time back with our friends we tried out one of the latest additions to Padstow’s picturesque little streets – Prawn on the Lawn. Owners Katie and Rick opened their first seafood bar and fishmonger in Islington, turning into a restaurant, then went on to open a second place in Padstow.

With the likes of Rick Stein and Paul Ainsworth lining the streets of Padstow, it can be easy to overlook this characterful coffee shop on the harbour front. Small but packing a mighty punch, Cherry Trees is well worth a pitstop (or three), adding its own flare to the foodie delights of the harbour town.

Day 5: If you’re not too full from the night before, go for a yummy fry-up at Cherry Trees Coffee House followed by a long walk along the South West Coastal Path. Follow the coastline from Padstow harbour, past Tregirls beach and Hawkers Cove and around Stepper Point to Trevone. Stop for lunch in the beachside café before heading further down the coast to Harlyn.

After moving from London, the owner (who is originally from New Zealand) realised her dream and opened Cherry Trees just across the harbour from where her grandfather used to serve coffees. This is a quirky, cosy little spot overlooking the bustling Padstow harbour, and despite the wealth of nearby cafes it remains very popular. The cakes are to die for, and they offer some interesting light lunches too. All that aside, they do a mean cup of coffee from their freshly ground beans and do a roaring trade from their takeaway window.

In the middle of Padstow’s bustling harbour you’ll find Cherry Trees Coffee House. The list of desserts is extensive with homemade lemon meringue pies, roulades and even popcorn cheesecake on top of the classics.

Or you can visit Cherry Trees Coffee open from 9am and 8:30 during school holidays. Their menu comprises of anything from a full Cornish breakfast through to a range of fruit pancakes. Or you could even sample Dad’s mince on toast – chilli con carne served on delicious thick bread.

This unpretentious cafe has made a name for itself thanks to a daily-changing selection of delectable homemade cakes. Afternoon tea is also wildly popular and the light lunch options aren’t to be sniffed at either.

A visit to Cornwall wouldn’t be complete without a Cornish cream tea and this cosy café serves one of the best in town. Just make sure you leave space for your meal tonight.

Being a coeliac I had a gluten free cream tea, star shaped scone which was delicious and my friends had non gluten.
