Reviews Summary

Quay Ingredient is a beloved cafe known for its delicious breakfast and brunch dishes, particularly its creative take on Eggs Benedict. Diners praise the cozy atmosphere and friendly service, though some note that the small space can lead to waits. While many rave about the quality and value, a few reviews mention inconsistencies in food preparation and pricing.

"100% Recommend!

If you are in Newcastle and looking for breakfast I would definitely recommend you come to Quay Ingredient! The food and drinks are as amazing as the pub in the name! I had the vegan sausage and hash browns roll and my partner had poached eggs, both were honestly the best thing we have eaten whilst staying in Newcastle!

Really good vegan/vegitarian options and the staff were so amazingly friendly and helpful (I especially loved the two Asian ladies who seemed to be running the show, they run a tight ship and are very good at it!).

Thank you for one of the best breakfasts I've had! ❤️✨"

"Visited on the strength of online reviews and wasn't disappointed.
We had the full breakfast and eggs benedict and they were both excellent. Cooked and presented to restaurant standard...and considering the quality it was served very quickly too.
Prices were very reasonable and service was friendly with a smile 🙂
Very much recommended!👍"

"Amazing Service.

Very welcoming and the standard of the food was fresh and tasty.

My wife is pregnant and they re assured her of the menu and items she can and can’t have.

My eggs Benedict was sublime with a tempura bacon which was so delicious.(need to know how this is done!)

I will definitely be back and what a lovely little quaint street it is on in the heart of the city.

It’s a must go for breakfast/brunch."

Newcastle & Gateshead

Tucked away under Newcastle's Tyne Bridge on a street that not even the local map seemed to think existed, Quay Ingredient took a little finding, but it was worth it (the trick is to walk until you are standing directly under the Tyne Bridge and, as if by magic, you’ll find yourself in front of Quay Ingredient). The main draw for me is the range of excellent breakfasts: when I asked for recommendations, Quay Ingredient was top of everyone’s lists and it didn’t disappoint!. Quay Ingredient’s not a huge place and you might have to wait for a table, such is its popularity.

The 10 best breakfasts in Newcastle

Quay Ingredient ruled the roost as the number one café in Newcastle on Tripadvisor for a long time and after a taste of their famous eggs benedict it's easy to see why. Their breakfasts are perfect and they use plenty of local produce including the highly sought Craster kippers. Tucked away underneath the Tyne Bridge, Quay Ingredient is so cosy, the only downside being the place is so teeny it can be near impossible to get a table, especially on busy weekends.

The Alternative Weekend Away for Couples

Quay Ingredient is highly recommended on TripAdvisor, yet the noisy (and messy) seagulls that line the overhead bridge certainly make you question whether you’ve turned up to the right place. Stepping inside, the travel inspired decor and tiny space make you feel like you’re visiting a close friend’s pad for breakfast. With limited tables, and small ones at that, it’s definitely geared up for a lazy couples brekkie.

Quick Gluten Free Guide To Newcastle

Quay Ingredient is a tiny little cafe situated right near the Quay (obviously..) not immediately clear from the menu is that they can pretty much alter any of the menu to make it gluten free as they have GF bread. They can’t toast the bread but they can warm it in the oven. I opted for the avo on toast with poached eggs and added a side of bacon.
