Reviews Summary

Cafe de China offers a diverse Chinese menu with great value, especially the all-you-can-eat option and a beautiful sunset view. Some patrons have also reported discriminatory service.

"Incredible food, incredible service, beautiful view. We did the all you can eat and it was amazing!"

"Absolutely disgusting customer service from manager, she has no people skills what so ever and made us feel very uncomfortable eating our food. We came with our two children who wanted chicken balls and chips which we were told you have to pay extra - it does not state this anywhere on menus. Then we ordered our starters - they came very quickly so we ordered our mains - chicken, chow mein x2, rice x2 a beef dish and duck. The food came very quickly again but no chow mein, we asked after a few mins and was told it’s coming. My son who was absolutely starving due to not having chicken balls wanted another portion of duck so we asked for this. The manager looked over our table as if to say we had enough. Ten mins passed and we still had no chow mein or extra duck so we asked again and manager came over - she had a scowl on her face with an attitude and said ‘when you finish this food first we’ll bring the next portion’ (my son had finished the first duck!) we were very confused and said we’d like our chow mein now. To which she said ‘you pay for what you don’t eat’ insinuating we already had too much and wouldn’t eat it! We said no we’d like our chow mein pls to go with our rice etc and other food! It’s part of the meal! She continued to argue and said a further 2/3 times you eat this lot first then we bring the rest. We said we want it now as the children are hungry and we will eat it all. Then we felt very uncomfortable for the rest of the meal as she kept looking over and checking the table. When we asked for the bill we told the staff about how we felt and she just smiled - then the manager came over and inspected the table picked up a plate and said ‘this is finished?’ As if to say we hadn’t finished it. We had in fact finished almost everything bar a spring roll or 2 the children hadn’t liked! They then tried to add on over £8 service charge which I asked to be taken off. The manager needs a very good training lesson is customer services and how to speak to people she is letting your restaurant down going by all the other reviews also!!"

"A conveniently located restaurant by the beach front. Food is mediocre but good when you are starving after spending time at the beach.
We were a bit surprised that they were turning away customers after just 2pm because their kitchen was closed. This is a bit unusual because people usually don't start having lunch until after 12pm when on holiday.
The dining area is quite spacious, so can easily accommodate fair amount of customers at a time. The place is clean and hygiene is maintained. Toilets are clean too."
