Reviews Summary

Fallow is highly acclaimed for its innovative and flavorful dishes, with standout items like the cod's head and mushroom parfait consistently praised. The restaurant's commitment to sustainability and its professional yet friendly service contribute to a memorable dining experience. While generally celebrated, some diners have found the atmosphere to be loud and cramped, and a few have felt certain dishes were average for the hype and price point.

"Ate at Fallow last night. Believe the hype, it’s very good. We were served by Christian, he is an excellent ambassador for the business. His knowledge of the menu and his advice on dishes were really helpful.
The food is innovative, beautiful and tastes amazing. We ate some of the famous dishes, corn ribs, mushroom parfait, cod’s head and they were all excellent.
A very decent wine list and good cocktails to get things going."

Matt Fanthorpe

"We had a marvellous time for lunch here today!
The food was divine. We enjoyed the beef and oyster tartare and the mussels to begin and the rice mousse and the British cheese, everything was amazing!
Our waiter, Alvin, was very nice and professional, with a willingness to discuss with us.
You can go there without hesitation, but I think it’s better to book a table!

The best dessert I have ever had in a restaurant, sincerely."

Cynthia Flambard

"Went to Fallow twice recently. Was very happy both times. Food was great, service was excellent & atmosphere pretty good as a whole. I was particularly impressed with their head to tail choice of ingredients. Mindful some may find part of the menu too adventurous, it will surely satisfy those who are more used to a greater choice of ingredients or who are open to something more exotic or different. The best dishes in my first visit were Cod’s Head, mushroom parfait & corn ribs. I also like octopus crumpet & beef tartare. The only dish I found not as good as some I had tried before was possibly beef ribs. Second time I tried their roasted pig’s head. It was quite an experience. We were very impressed with the way how this pretty unthinkable giant of a dish was executed, served & tasted. I do have to give a warning though the dish is pretty fatty & filling. It will be a good idea to share it amongst at least 4 people if not six."

Best Restaurants Open For Christmas Dinner

Plough face-first into the festive set menu from Dinner by Heston Blumenthal alumni Will Murray and Jack Croft, whose St James’s Market space is all about being sassily sustainable, growing their own produce and doing their own whole-animal butchery. At £195 a head for seatings on December 25, expect hash brown with Exmoor caviar, pigs in blankets with devil sauce, a mushroom parfait with Wiltshire truffle, salmon belly terrine with yet more Exmoor caviar before the main event of turkey ballotine with smoked bacon and apricot or venison wellington. Save space for a special pud of yule log with chestnuts and candied mandarins.

Whether you choose to dine before or after your show, your stomach is sure to be happy with dishes such as cod’s head, Sriracha butter sauce; confit cabbage, black garlic, chestnut and grilled venison with red wine sauce on the menu. Vegetarian Restaurants In London | The Meat-Free Masters

Fallow founders Jack Croft & Will Murray met working on the vegetable station at Dinner by Heston (one of London’s Michelin starred restaurants) – so it’s fair to say they know their onions. What started out as as pop up has now gone permanent in a sleek space in St James’s (as well as spin-off Roe in Canary Wharf), where the duo have won a Michelin Bib Gourmand. Their culinary backgrounds, coupled with a zero-waste philosophy, mean that the menu here is seriously strong when it comes to vegetarian offerings: try the caramelised cauliflower croquetas or the mushroom parfait (whose ingredients are grown in planters hanging over the kitchen).

Fallow was the third pop-up to go in to the revolving space of 10 Heddon Street (the others being what became Manteca, and Pacific) and due to COVID, it had a slightly longer tenure than was expected. Now it’s moved to its very own permanent home just across the way at St James’s Market and things have been taken up another notch with a very sexy looking 65-cover dining room with a bar, wraparound terrace, and seven-seater chef’s counter overlooking the open kitchen. Style-wise, chefs Will Murray and Jack Croft are continuing the same sustainable approach that won them so many plaudits at the residency.

This stylish St James’s spot is one of the most lauded restaurants of the moment, so the news that Fallow was set to launch a Saturday brunch menu sent ripples of excitement through London’s food scene. And it does not disappoint, offering hearty-meets-elegant dishes executed with the restaurant’s signature flair. Chefs Jack Croft and Will Murray let ingredients shine in surprising – and delightful – ways: from an exquisite bowl of Bircher muesli, showcasing tart rhubarb and pretty piped rosettes of lemon cream; to the Haymarket hash browns, with wickedly crunchy edges and a yielding interior.

London’s best family-friendly restaurants: top places to eat with the kids

Fallow came up trumps as the most-welcoming foodie spot for families. Walking in with three hungry under-sevens, the maitre d’ made the children the bosses, offering them a central table (no shoving the families in a loo-side setting here) so they could watch the busy chefs in the open kitchen. They were immediately given a children’s menu (made of recycled seaweed) with proper food options, including smaller (but far from stingy) portions of Fallow’s famous corn ribs and smoked beef ribs or pizza (for a very reasonable fiver).

That means ‘root-to-stem’ and ‘nose-to-tail’, and making use of ingredients that are often thrown away.
