Reviews Summary
Blacklock Soho is celebrated for its exceptional meat quality, particularly its steaks and Sunday roasts, often highlighted by attentive and friendly service. Diners rave about unique sides and decadent desserts. However, some reviews mention the food can be on the salty side, and the roast beef has occasionally been noted as tough.
"We had a Sunday roast dinner after the London Marathon recently. The food was very good, we got the assorted meats option - all were good but the beef stood out. The fixings and Yorkshire pudding were all delicious. We ended up getting several cocktails which were all surprisingly creative and fantastic! If the food and drinks were great; the service was even better. Our waiter was one of the most thoughtful and helpful people we came across during our trip to London, he made sure he did everything possible to help out my wife who was a bit dehydrated after running. Highly recommend this place and we will come back next time we are in town!"

"we came for the steak, and it did not disappoint, great service, reasonable price. Quality of food are as promised. Suggestion: if you don't know too much about wine, order the house wine, you can never go wrong.
we are 2 ladies, shared one porter steak, with salad. and old-fashioned as desert."

"This restaurant is my absolute favorite place to eat in London, and we made sure to book a table three weeks in advance—it was the one place I knew I couldn’t leave the city without revisiting.
As always, the service was exceptional. John, our server, was a delight—attentive, personable, and spot-on with his recommendations, which set the tone for a memorable evening.
For starters, we ordered the cheese and pickle biscuits and the mushrooms on toast, both excellent choices to open the meal. For mains, we had the prime ribeye and a tenderloin fillet steak, accompanied by chips and roasted sweet potatoes. The steaks were flawless—juicy, tender, and cooked exactly to our request. Both cuts were packed with flavor, melt-in-your-mouth tender, and so well-prepared that they hardly needed sauce. Even so, we tried the garlic bone marrow and chopped sauce, both of which complemented the meat beautifully without overshadowing it.
The sides were well-executed, though the sweet potatoes deserve special mention. The chips were classic—crispy on the outside and fluffy inside—but not extraordinary. The roasted sweet potatoes, however, were spectacular: charred on the outside, fork-tender within, and perfectly seasoned, easily one of the best side dishes I’ve had in London.
The true star of the evening was dessert: their famous white chocolate cheesecake. Creamy, rich, and indulgent without being overwhelming, it remains my favorite dessert in London—simple yet brilliant, and the perfect way to end the meal.
For anyone seeking a steak dinner in London, you cant find any better than Blacklock. From service to execution, it delivers consistently, and for me, it’s unmatched."

The 11 Best Steak Restaurants In London - London
This is a steak restaurant with a sense of humour, a distinct understanding of what constitutes a fun night, and a love for great deals. From the naughty meat-themed messages written in lipstick on the mirror in their dining room, to their fantastic £27 per person ‘all in’ option that involves a heady mix of beef, snacks, sides, and chops, Blacklock should rank highly on your list of go-to places for a steak. They’ve also got locations in Covent Garden, the City, Shoreditch, and Canary Wharf, but their feelgood Soho spot is our favourite.
The best pre and post-theatre restaurants to book for dinner in London this autumn
With a reputation such as this one, it's no surprise that Blacklock has opened up another site in London - making all your meaty dreams come true. The restaurant's biggest location yet, it's prime spot in the heart of the West End makes it a solid choice for any pre or post theatre-goers. As usual, choose the size of chop; the source of the chop (lamb, beef or pork) and, of course, your sides.
Where To Go For Lunch in London
If you come back to the office after lunch later and sweatier than usual, then you’ve done Blacklock right. While you could order a huge dry-aged steak with beef-dripping chips or the signature plate of chops scorched with a 200 year-old clothes iron – and we wouldn’t fault you for it – there’s also a few hand-held items designed specifically for lunching carnivores short on time; a pork belly bun wrapped in crispy crackling or a steak sarnie that sees tender sliced hanger steak, topped with bone marrow, finished with watercress, and thrown into a ciabatta roll. It’s all just over a tenner too, so throw in a Blacklock beer and you’ll still be within decent budget.

The best takeaways in London for delivery
Best for: smoky chophouse meatsWhat to order: roast chicken with a side of mac and four cheeses. After the success of its at-home meal kits, Blacklock is now catering to the masses and sending straight-from-the-kitchen dishes to your door via Deliveroo. Kicking off with its Shoreditch branch, the steak and chophouse favourite has picked its bestsellers, such as pork and lamb chops with chop sauce or Blacklock gravy and hearty mac 'n' four cheeses, and added a few new surprises in the form of giant roast chickens and a crunchy Caesar salad.
The Best British Restaurants In London
A resounding hipster hit in Shoreditch, Blacklock was born from a love of the traditional London Chophouse so don’t be fooled by its trendy interior and clientele – this is everything true British food is all about in its most familiar and unpretentious form. Savoury dishes are true to the cause, so expect cull yaw crumpets with gravy, smoked bacon chops and rump cap steaks. Don’t miss the cocktail menu either – the ‘Usual Suspects’ with jalapeño tequila, Aperol, grapefruit and Prosecco is one of our favourites.
Where to go for lunch in the City of London
Set up as a subterranean ode to the 17th century chophouses that were quite the thing in London back in the day, the City branch of Blacklock serves a broader menu than other locations. It still strives to serve the finest grass-fed meat at affordable prices, however, with a special selection of lunch-break-friendly dishes that are served swiftly, for example the Pork Belly Bun or the Blacklock Burger. On the other hand, if you’ve got extra time on your hands, try spending it at the separate cocktail bar.
The best restaurants in the City of London
Having long catered to city slickers with meaty appetites, there’s no shortage of good steak in the Square Mile but the best (in our humble opinion) is to be found at Blacklock. All meat is sourced from the Warren family, who have been rearing and dry-ageing native and rare breed high-welfare animals on their farm in Cornwall since 1880. Despite this pedigree, a slap-up meal here won’t break the bank, with the prime Porterhouse coming in at £10/100g and cocktails very keenly priced from £8 each.

It can sometimes feel like London does not need another steak-based franchise, but Blacklock manages to find a niche within them: when Hawksmoor feels too grand, Flat Iron too slight, Blacklock provides the right blend of meat, cocktails and smoke. If beef isn’t your thing, then its Barnsley chop remains one of the best in the city. What’s the steak like?

Blacklock is a chops restaurant first and a very affordable one at that. The skinny chops piled on bread is the order of the day here, but you can also have some bigger bone-in cuts. They include prime rib, sirloin and porterhouse - and the rump cap is worth a look too.
