"We had a lovely meal at Paysanne with excellent service. It’s a small restaurant so do book ahead. Our favourite dish was the mushroom starter but everything was very good. We paid £50 per head (including tip) for 3 courses and a half litre carafe of wine. Will be coming back here"

Marina O’Loughlin reviews The Jackdaw in Conwy, Wales
(As it seems to be around these parts: the following evening we go to a little French joint called Paysanne in Deganwy that looks as though it’s in someone’s front room. In the Seventies. Not filled with confidence towards its more fancy-pants dishes, I order steak au poivre. Maybe the sauce could have been more “poivred”, maybe the frites are catering-pack jobs, but the fat slab of sirloin is ambrosial. Also, the owner-maître d’s eccentric everyone’s-a-pal-here charm is worth the trip alone.)
Paysanne | French Restaurant | Deganwy, Conwy
Paysanne celebrates its twenty fifth anniversary in 2013, and it is still serving honest French provincial food to the denizens of Deganwy and beyond. A pleasing location overlooking the River Conwy is one of the assets at this neatly attired, family-run restaurant, which also stands directly opposite the town's tiny railway station. The kitchen makes good use of indigenous Welsh produce (especially seafood) for menu that offers a safe run through the traditional repertoire.
10 North Wales foodie recommendations from Paysanne owner, Cai Ross
When I’m not writing things like The North Wales Fish & Seafood cook book (oh, did I accidentally mention that), you’ll find me running Paysanne in Deganwy, a French-country style bistro that’s been feeding the fine folk of North Wales since 1988. One of the downsides of running a restaurant is that you don’t get much time to visit all the other eateries around you: they’re mostly all shut the same nights that we are.
Top places to eat in Conwy
Opened in 1988 thanks to its original owners’ sincere love for provincial French cuisine, Paysanne is still a family business, now run by their son.
