Bacaro is part of the Salt house Tapas family, and is a very popular restaurant among the locals, booking is definitely advised here, especially on a weekend. From stunning pizzettes to the most incredible Slow cooked harissa lamb tagliatelle… there’s nothing better than getting a load of dishes between you and having a bit of everything.

If the mozzarella is available, that’s particularly excellent, as are the pizettes, and the vegetarian plates are delicious, regardless of your thoughts on meat.

Bacaro is tucked away on Castle Street, right in the city centre. The place has a comfortable, down-to-earth vibe, and a fantastic reputation. Their menu has Italian and Spanish-inspired small plates – a little like Italian tapas – so again you’ve got that sociable, sharing dishes-type experience (or you can just order your own, like I did on this occasion!).

Just at the bottom of Castle Street, Bacaro is a rustic chic venue that has plenty of Italian dishes to try. If you’re wanting a place that is a little bit more unique with plenty of small plates for you to mix and match together, you will love it here.

There are some meat-free treats lurking among the cichetti and pizzette, as well as an seven-strong section dedicated to vegetarian plates, including shoestring courgette fries (yum) and primavera risotto with honey goats cheese (double yum).

2021 Review: “Italian small plates (this time)” “from the Salt House tapas stable” – win solid ratings for this “friendly, buzzy restaurant” from the Red & Blue team. It’s “great for a larger party”, with “seats at the bar good for dates”; “it’s crowded so you do get to hear your neighbours’ conversations – although in Liverpool that can be theatre”.

Castle Street has an abundance of high-quality food and drink venues, such as Bacaro, So Salsa, Castle St Townhouse, and Mowgli. As well as steakhouses and rodizios such as Gaucho, Hawkswmoor, and Fazenda. There’s also great nordic style dining at nearby Nord Restaurant, and Queens Wine Bar and Bistro offering classic seasonal dishes.

At Bacaro on Castle Street fill your boots with the best pastas, pizzettes and charcuteries. This place is different as it offers small plates like tapas, which means that it’s a great idea to order lots of different dishes and sample lots of different dishes each time you return (and you’re definitely going to return!)

Italian food in Liverpool doesn’t come much better than at Bacaro. Serving a mixture of Italian and Spanish tapas-style dishes in a relaxed environment, it’s my go-to recommendation whenever friends ask me where to eat in Liverpool. It’s a great spot to visit with friends, as the small plates are ideal for sharing.

Whether you like your small plates from Spain or Italy Salt House have you covered. Both offer a separate GF menu crammed with loads of options – try the gluten free pizzettes at Bacaro and the excellent tortilla Salt House Tapas.

Like the backstreet Venetian tapas places which inspired this central Liverpool bar and restaurant, there is something about Salt House Bacaro that makes you never want to leave.

This is most certainly our most favorite restaurant in Liverpool, Both me and my husband are regulars here and that’s because the food is fantastic and the staff are brilliant!

Inspired by the workingmen’s bars of Venice, this restaurant in Liverpool’s financial district serves small plates of perfection. Eat at the bar for the best atmosphere.
