Top 10 budget restaurants, bars and cafes in Leeds | Leeds holidays
Ordinarily, you might walk the long way round just to avoid Trinity, a huge, shiny new shopping centre in Leeds city centre. Trinity Kitchen, however – a food court stuffed with chain names but also, crucially, five food trucks, vans and shacks that change on a monthly basis – is a pretty irresistible lure. Those mobile guests are chosen in collaboration with the organiser of the British Street Food Awards, Richard Johnson, which means that London's best (such as Original Fry Up Material; the Cheese Truck, whose grilled sandwiches look incredible; and Big Apple Hotdogs), regularly rub shoulders here with Leeds outfits such as Marvellous Tea Dance , Fish& and Manjit's Kitchen.

How community spirit turned Leeds into a foodie hotspot
Over in Kirkgate Market, chefs Liz Cottam and Mark Owens have launched The Owl, the market’s first proper restaurant and an upmarket one at that. A former Masterchef contestant, Liz perfected her kitchen skills at pop-ups and supper clubs before teaming up with Mark and opening high-end restaurant Home, followed by The Owl. It slots in next to Kirkgate’s bustling Fish Row seafood counters, its austere charcoal-wood exterior belying the intricate enterprise within that’s earned it a Michelin Plate.
Pho Restaurant @ Trinity Kitchen, Trinity Leeds
Trinity Kitchen has opened and I’d been very kindly invited by Libby Edwards, Head of Marketing from Pho Restaurant to come and meet Stephen and Jules who’d set up the venture. After a trip to Vietnam 10 years ago they fell in love with the food and saw an opportunity to fill a gap in the UK market, opening London’s first Vietnamese street food restaurant in 2005. Since then, they’ve open Pho in a number of different locations in the South, but this is the first in the North of England.

While they’re instagrammable with all the flower walls for me it’s all about the grub and I think they do one of the best mixed grills in Leeds. That’s not forgetting the Chinese food we had after the wedding at Joy’s Kitchen which serves up Chinese style tapas aka Dim Sum.
