Reviews Summary
The Kingfisher is highly praised for its classic fish and chips, generous portions, and excellent value. Diners consistently highlight the freshness of the fish and the perfect crispiness of the batter. While the food is a major draw, some reviewers note that mushy peas can lack flavor. Overall, it's a beloved spot for hearty British fare.
"The wife and I decided to dine in today instead of a takeaway. Lovely and warm in the cosy seating area. Also very clean and the staff very pleasant.
We had 2 x fish & chips, peas, curry sauce and a pot of tea.
Best takeaway and dine In in Keswick. Fish is fresh, chips nice and brown and tasty. The curry sauce was sweet and fruity. The peas are peas, mushy but not much taste to be honest.
I've recommended to my friends again. Hopefully we will be back soon."

"10/10 Fish and chips. I knew it was going to be good, mainly because I'd spent time doing the adult thing of reading countless reviews on fish and chips of all things.
Nonetheless, the fish and chips are what I went for, and that's what I ordered.
They were out of the large cod (doesn't seem to be an option for large haddock) so I'd recommend getting there earlier if you're particularly hungry or just well stomached like me.
Salt and vinegar, and I didn't order any sides.
Wonderfully soft fish and crunchy but not hard batter.
It has its own flavour but obviously the salt and vinegar helped, and it's a British institution in itself.
10/10. Recommend it over most fish and chips places.
After finishing it I feel strangely patriotic 😂"

"After a long day of sightseeing around Keswick, we stopped by The Kingfisher for a late lunch – and it was exactly what we needed!
The fish & chips were fresh, flaky, and perfectly cooked, with proper chunky chips and a generous portion of mushy peas. We also tried the lasagne with chips – a surprisingly comforting combo that really hit the spot. Everything was hot, tasty, and served quickly.
The place has a classic, no-fuss vibe, perfect for refuelling after exploring the Lakes. Bonus points for the lovely orange juice – fresh and refreshing.
Highly recommended if you’re in Keswick and craving some hearty British food!"
