What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Old Keswickian is widely celebrated for its exceptional fish and chips, with many calling it the best they've ever had, praising the crispy batter and perfectly cooked fish. Reviewers also appreciate the traditional atmosphere and friendly service. However, some diners have found certain dishes, like pies and sides, to be less impressive, and a few have noted issues with overcooked fish or bland flavors.
"Wow, I just had the best fish and chips I’ve ever tried! The fish was super fresh and perfectly crispy, and the portion was massive."
Negar Delbari
"Walked in thinking they offer indoor seats as well for a quick bite of some fish and chips, turned out they have a different (slightly more expensive) menu upstairs.
The fish and chips was a good deal because of the huge portion. I liked how the fish meat was tender even after frying and it did not taste too salty. The batter was not too thick neither. The unsalted chips were freshly fried when served.
However, the sausage and chips was a bit out of our expectation because of the obvious imbalance between sausage and chips. We could not finish the massive amount of chips in the 2 dishes eventually."
Kero Chan
"The fish was below average for a chippy not even that far from the sea. The chips were decent. The vinegar was really, really watered down which when you like vinegary chips and fish, leads you to pour more which makes your food soggy. And the mushy peas were clearly tinned. Cheap moves all around…
Chicken burger was alright-ish
Service was good"
