We are not going to lie, all of the dishes we've seen coming out of The Finnieston since it helped breathe a breath of fresh air into the stagnant West end food scene have been outstanding. We could have chose anything on the menu and it would have looked great, but sometimes you just crave fish and chips. Fish and chips Finnieston-style that is - battered in theit own Apache Pilsner, (brewed for them by WEST Brewery), their chunky North Sea Haddock is served with pea puree, tartar sauce and hand cut chips.

On our first night, we had an excellent seafood supper at The Finnieston, a bar and restaurant on a stretch of Argyle Street replete with fine eateries just south of Kelvingrove Park. With its cosy maritime decor and friendly staff, it's a great place for a drink or a bite. I had to order the Monster Munch Martini — with its picked onion garnish, it perfectly encapsulated the strong flavours of that favoured childhood snack — but I enjoyed the Tropical Old Fashioned (with grilled pineapple) even more.

With sustainability at its heart The Finnieston is found on bustling Argyle Street and serves up a menu of carefully curated Scottish seafood and proudly labels itself as Glasgow’s premier gin bar. It is a moody and masculine subterranean space, punctuated by a mixture of exposed bricks, wood-panelled walls and cosy leather studded booths separated by ornate glass screens. Expect classics like fish soup, Orkney crab cakes and seafood curry, all beautifully executed.

Glasgow's best gin bar is also one of the city's finest Scottish seafood restaurants serving up ethically-sourced seafood. Its cozy setting in an old Drovers tavern dating back to around 1800 ensures this Finnieston spot is the perfect place to soak up some of Glasgow's history — who knows, you may even spot a ghost or two. The seasonally changing menu includes delights such as oysters, fruits de mer, Isle of Mull scallops, lobster, mussels, and langoustines.

Another Glasgow restaurant I really enjoyed was The Finnieston, a seafood restaurant and gin bar. The restaurant itself felt very historic; the building dates back to the early 1800s when it was used as a drovers’ tavern, and over the course of two centuries it has housed a cabinet-making workshop, a hotel, and even a dairy farmer and his cattle. The restaurant had a small yet focused menu, and since seafood is their specialty, we went with that.

Coincidentally, The Finnieston is ALSO owned by the same people who own Porter and The Crafty Pig. I guess I have a type. We actually just went here for cocktails and dessert because they’re right next to Porter and Rye.
