What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Tavern Restaurant garners praise for its hearty, high-quality pub fare and its exceptionally friendly and attentive staff, who are noted for going above and beyond. Diners frequently highlight dishes like the fish and chips, haggis, and desserts. While most experiences are positive, some patrons mention minor service hiccups, such as drinks arriving after food or occasionally inattentive service during busy periods, though the food quality remains a consistent draw.
"This is a great restaurant and bar. The staff are superb, and really helpful. My husband is not a whisky drinker, but was interested in the chicken and haggis with whisky sauce. He was offered the chance to taste the sauce first, which was great and it tasted fantastic. The food was very good. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting our passing through."

"We ended up here unexpectedly because the place we originally wanted to go to was closed.
Although it was quite busy, we were still able to get a table for two.
Service was quick and friendly.
The only downside was that our drinks arrived after the food, and the amount of whisky we received seemed a bit small.
That said, the food was absolutely delicious, and the dessert was both generous and very tasty.
We have no regrets about dining here!"

"Had lunch here during a stop on our bus tour of the Highlands, and we were really impressed with the quality of the food. The place was almost empty when we arrived so service was very speedy. It was only a short walk from where our bus parked/departed so it’s a great location but most of the others from our tour didn’t go that far down the street so they missed out on this gem! We had plenty of time to enjoy our meal and get back to the bus with time to spare."

We stayed 2 nights in Fort William and went out fro two meals – first night we had food in the Tavern – second night we went to the Cafe Mango indian/thai restaurant – both recommended – and both easy to find on Fort William high street. Also there are lots of pubs/restaurants on Fort William high street to cater to every taste.

As a regular at the tavern we return based on the good food and lovely service you receive every time we go . We recently had a booking for a birthday dinner for 40 people . I was expecting service to maybe be slightly slower with that amount of meals at one time and possibly the meals not to be as piping hot as usual but no !
